Gearbox tower removal (FSI if that's important).

I've searched around but not managed to find direct instructions: is it just as it looks? Cables flipped back, weight off, two bolts and lift out?

I was a bit worried that I might lift it out and hear 'clang, tinkle tinkle' as bits fall into the bottom of the gearbox ...

Yes, the cup's missing, yes, it's practically seized solid, yes, I'll change the gearbox oil (or at the very least, drop a sample).

Many thanks and apologies if this is, in-fact, posted elsewhere.

BTW, there's no play at all and the side-to-side movement is very good, so not sure what I'm going to find. I've tried lubricating it from the top to no avail, I imagine the seal is simply wiping any fluids off the selector shaft.

I remember having asked @A2Steve before to supply me with one but he was not able to make it move even when hit with a hammer I think. I ended up shimming the weight (the teeth had worn on mine) and calling it a day. Been fine ever since.

Thank you. As it turns out, it wasn't the tower at all but the cross-shaft that holds the bell-crank.

Starting a new project thread so will detail it in there ...
