Genuine A2 Front And Rear Shocks

Shocks are best replaced if they fail the bounce test. There are no serviceable components within the cylinder and the cost would just be too high.
Replacement is your only option and always replace as a pair, gives you the chance to alter the vehicles' characteristics too!
In days gone by, you could get cartridges to fit into the cylinder of a McPhearson strut, but I doubt this repair is available now days.

Reason i asked is to be able to have a back up set if ever get stuck and have to do an emergency repair to stay mobile.

I hear you bu shocks are really very reliable now days and the only time you would repalce is if they are leaking or worn.
Emergency repairs are really not feasable due to the need to lift and support the vehicle and the tools required.
