Good evening all!

My wife and I have been looking for a small car for her, something to replace a Ford KA (excellent on fuel), that will be able to transport her and our impending baby in comfort and safety :)

After many investigations and lists, we initially chose a Panda 100hp, excellent fun small car but the economy was pretty terrible for a 1.4 and the ride was apalling. That and only 3 NCAP stars made us turn else where.
We briefly looked at Citroen C4's but they don't seem to be wearing particularly well?

We are not very brand loyal, but as an engineer that has a real passion for vehicles and a wife that has three brothers and a father all car mad, they have to be built right! We have had some odd ball cars in the past, Nissan S-cargo, two Citroen XM's and one BX, a string of BMW's, three Daihatsu Charade GTti's and numerous others, having a rare cars is almost a prerequisite for us :D

That was the point we started looking at A2's, light, small, fuel economic, and safe.

We have looked at a few, they seem to suffer from being wives cars, with ring and nail damage to all plastics. That and engine problems

The right one for the right price came up in Birmingham, we looked at it this morning and bought it :)

After a good clean, was, back to black, clean all the damn silicone of the interior, hoover, and rain-x, it was looking much much better.

Not perfect, plenty of age related bumps and scrapes on the corners and a dent in the drivers door, but all superficial. I have an OSS, not and NOSS ;)

With one owner from new, 98k on the clock and all the right recipts, we are dead happy!

Things on the upgrade list include, sort out the cataract in the passenger headlight, new rear drivers side lens, refurb wheels, maybe sort out some new front wings and a rear bumper, and get a false boot floor set up.

I will take photos and do my best to write up any work we do for the benefit of others :)

Kind regards,

James and Michelle

Welcome :D
One owner shows how they worm their way into your affections, and it certainly cleans up well

Regarding safety, on the way to pick up mine we got stuck in traffic on the motorway. There had been an accident, one of the cars involved was an A2 (silver as well) that had been hit hard from behind and pushed into another car. It had taken a hard hit and while some of the side glass had popped the passenger cell was intact and all the doors opened. It was good enough for me, I honestly think if I hadn't liked the look of it I wouldn't have gone ahead and bought one.

Good evening all!

We were looking at Ka's as my wife has a driving licience but needs to "re-learn" in the UK... I didn't think much to the Ka's we were looking at **Rust**... I have a mk 1 Honda Insight (70-106mpg from petrol) and it too is Aluminium and in the past we benchmarked the Audi A2 when it was launched (Automotive Engineer in Essex) so understand cars to some extent. I liked the A2's rust proof-ness as the mechanical side I can or know people who can fix these..

So a very similar story to ours and looking forward to sorting the car out... My wife loves the A2 and has spent the last week making the interior as close to new again.
