Good scrub-up today

For the last 3 days I've been busy:
  • Picked up A2 from paint shop with repainted front and rear bumper - they were taken off, painted Crystal Blue and Black and baked. Plus fitted reversing sensors.
  • Washed with hose and soft brush
  • Clayed with Bilt Hamber Auto Clay - soft grade this time rather than regular
  • Waxed with Mer Ultimate liquid polish including all door jabs - hurts the fingers doing the door hinge areas!
  • Cleaned interior black plastic with Armorall Protect
  • Applied bumper black to stipled exterior plastic - used an old toothbrush
  • Cleaned all rubbers with Gummi Pflege - pity the foam came off and disappeared into the the engine bay!
  • Cleaned all side windows with Halfords Glass Cleaner
  • Applied Rain X to front and rear windows
  • UV protected headlights with Meguiar's Headlight Protectant
  • Vacuumed
  • Picked up refurbished wheels
  • Installed new over mats (cheap disposable ones at £10 on ebay 351534338108 - look good)
  • Routed cables for new reversing sensors
  • Photographed for Agreed Value Insurance
Ran out of time so no shampooing seats and carpets but they are fine. Forgot to clean the tyres...

Paintwork was done by Reef Paint Shop of Southwick near Trowbridge. Really good. They normally work on classic cars (e.g. Ferraris). I hinted that an A2 wasn't a step down! Gavin did say the A2 body was more complex than most cars he works on.

Wheels were by Platium Alloys of Swindon. 1st attempt had blemishes which I rejected, so they did them again. In return for having to make a 2nd trip they put the wheels on the A2 (normally a charge).

Looks absolutely lovely ... you should be very proud :)

That's definitely a look I can only aspire to with my Crystal Blue at the moment! Hopefully I'll have a replacement front bumper and better headlights on in time for ADI though. Maybe the OSR door too. I'm also looking to retrofit lumbar to some blue Satellite seats.

Looks great! These are getting pretty old by now but it's awesome that there are owners who look after their cars, and in many cases where the cars have been neglected for years, look to return them to their former glory. I know, part of it is OCD most likely but I'm as guilty of that as anyone. Just wicked.
