Hello

It would have cost £995.88 to repair my Car (see attached pictures)

Paid £120.60 for all the Labour. I don't like the Audi A2 and am glad to see it go.

This going to be an ongoing problem. I quite like the A2 concept but the expertise, tools, time and time to source parts makes these cars too expensive for anybody other than a skilled DIY enthusiast.
An A2 is going to be a rare sight as they slip out of everyday use.

There's nothing on a2001's list that is exceptional for a car that is in its second decade (and not been well maintained), and nothing that can't be fixed. I don't know who provided that quote, but the charges are very high, certainly far higher than I experience. Perhaps it's an Audi main dealer?

A complete rear brake shoe kit including springs etc is £30 posted from Crewe audi.

Yes I know but put yourself in the position of a2001. Several hundreds of pounds are spent on a car that is not pushing his buttons and an old biddy that should have gone to Spec Savers clips his rear wing on the way home. Insurance company offers him less than he has just spent. It’s a risk it is a problem.
I have spent about £3k on my car and still more to go. I’m incredibly defensive in the way I drive it and looking forward to retiring it.

Sorry to hear that you feel like selling up. Something to bear in mind tho, cars of similar age to the A2 will require a lot more money to keep on the road, especially come mot time. Something i do, that is ok with my friendly garage, is purchase consumeable parts whenever i see them at a good price. That way you can spread the cost and not feel like you might have been overcharged.
