Hi everyone,

I've been an A2 owner for about 18 months now, but only recently stumbled upon the forum. It has already proven immensely helpful.
After the cambelt snapped in February I started to take the car more seriously and am learning all I can about it.

Mine is a fairly standard, cobalt blue. 1.6 FSI model, without many add-ons. It had 78k on board and it is now at 97k.

Today I got the first mod which was kindly and professionally done by timmus - a DIS. It was a pleasure to meet you and see your works, Tom. Thank you! Will certainly come back for more ;)

And a few photos of the car and the DIS retrofit.

As it happens this is the first car that I bought and own. While I am very happy with the A2, I wish I found the forum prior to buying as I do not have the full service history. And it turns out the car had cruise control retrofitted and the job was not so good. And it pales in comparison to the loom and thorough job timmus did.

Also, the radio unit is different from the one that the documents claim I should have, resulting in a currently locked unit until Tom sources the correct code. I expect I willl slowly find more hidden "gems", but am determined to bring the car in top shape.

Thank you for the numerous invaluable threads that I feed and learn from.

Cheers,
Dan

Hi Dan,

Welcome,

you have had three results there,
buying an A2 (even though not a recent purchase),
Finding this great forum
and having work done by Tom !!!

I am sure that your A2 enjoyment will increase even more now!!!

Hi Dan,
Welcome along to this great community, invaluable I totally agree, great looking car you have there, I also have a Cobalt 1.6!
You won't go wrong with Toms work, a real breath of fresh air these days instead of a 'that'll do' attitude seen too often.
It's great you posted so many pics as that is a job for Tom on mine soon, you'll have to post some mpg figures over the coming weeks, be good to see you at a social,
Cheers Jeff

P.S THAT BLOKE TOM IS ALWAYS SITTING DOWN ON THE JOB LOL

Greetings from Abingdon Dan. Look out for our Special Edition in Akoya silver! So did Tom come to you to do the work? That opens up lots of possibilities ....

Many thanks Dan for the kinds words and for posting some photos of the work. It was great to meet you yesterday; I had a really nice time upgrading your car and exploring such an elaborate garden. :)

Yes, I did the work at Dan's house. I travel a fair amount with my job so am usually able to meet the desires of A2 owners who aren't able to have the work done in Lancaster.
I keep part kits in stock for almost all factory options.

Cheers,

Tom

Have you ever been to Leigh on Sea Tom?
I think you should pay a visit!
Work, 1st and a beer second haha!!

@Jeffers66, thank you. And will post more as I gather more data. Started logging everything on Fuelly as well.
@nin, *wave*. Tom did have a number of spare which I would've gone for where it in my budget for this month. As Tom said, he was on his way up north and was able to accomodate me on his way.

And Tom, as we said, you are always welcome in our garden and little house.

Dan
