Handbrake Cable Group Orders

Evening all,

Here are all the group order relevant posts from Steve handbrake cable thread. This has been provided to maintain the flow of the original thread whilst we all add our interest here for Rick @Rickmeister to selflessly supply us with what we desire.

I'll build the lists later on this evening. Of note, I'm here just conducting assistance as this is a Rick's and Ian's @in9999 venture. Rick is going to send the order to Ian, who will distribute to everyone here in the UK.

Whilst the registered interest is extracted to build the lists, I'll also try to tidy it up without ruining the flow of this new thread.

Have a great evening/weekend everyone.

Howey, the full story is buried in this and other threads.
Basically:
The cable corrodes over time and can create an MOT fail
The cable is not available via Audi Uk but is available from Audi Tradition (AT) in Germany
AT doesn't send to the Uk, but will send to me in Germany. I order then post onwards to the UK.
I am not in any way connected with the motor trade and members need to find the part number on AT.
People reimburse me at cost via Paypal, in Euros, Friends and Family, so I don't get hit with fees
It's worked well and runs on trust, everyone wins.

Tom, £56 = €68 so that fits.

Howey, you asked:
total price delivered to my door please

So to your door from Germany via DHL is:
Cable unit price is €55
Post shared €6 + "in UK" via a member who helps by accepting a bundle of 5 / 6 cables splitting the €28 postage so €61
Post untracked direct to you from Germany €13 so €68
Post tracked direct to you from Germany €28 so €83

Not trying to steer the thread away from its purpose. Any component fitted to any A2 is subject to corrosion that can be accelerated by local climate conditions. So if the car is kept by the seaside then salt corrosion is nasty, road salt can be nearly as bad. You can be driving on gravel and that will cause more damage than driving on sealed road surfaces ( in theory ). You could keep the car garaged etc. All these factors will change the rate at which steel components corrode. There is no finite time for hand brake cables to last and very possible that a very low mileage part could be far more corroded than something that has seen more use purely due to how and where it has been kept / used.

Enough of this now. Lets hope the thread returns to is original direction. So I apologise to @2work and @Rickmeister for this.

Many many thanks for such clarity, and many many thanks for helping all us UK outsiders out, its so generous of you to do all this for free and for our benefit!

#thankyouSirRick

Howey,

This is the cost of sending the bulk order to a single member here in the UK. Tracked or untracked should be easy enough to work out and Rick will let us know which service he has used so far. There is an additional postage charge which is collected by the receiving member to send the items out to the individuals on the list.

Hope that all make sense. Do you want to be added to a list?

Kind regards,

Tom
Hello Tom

Sorry if i caused a kerfuffle!

Yes please add me to the list guessing NO.7 now

Not in any mad rush so should a member in urgent need appear happy to wait for the next round!

Many thanks

Evening Tom,

No kerfuffle caused. We don’t know what we don't know! I have changed the thread type so it should be easier to see is origins at the head of each page.

List 7 has commenced at Post #1 which you’ve been added to. Also on the list 7 is @tdiquattro and @Axit as they unfortunately missed the list 3 & 4 run.

Before the next run (List 5,6&7), all members involved will be tagged by their user name by either Rick or myself. This message that you're tagged in will have a deadline to confirm your interest via email to Rick. Please do login every 2 days to ensure you don't miss out.

Kind regards,

Tom

Afternoon
Please could I be added to the list for the handbrake cables.
Two if possible.
Many thanks
Graham

All group 3 and 4 cables have arrived with me and will be forwarded as planned. Members have mails sent.
Once this is cleared I'll move to groups 5 - 7 as one order.

More to follow.

Great work Rick,

Awesome service you’re providing here.

Is there a volunteer from groups 5, 6 or 7 who would like to step forward to take care of the distribution UK side.

Kind regards,

Tom

Depending on time scale I would be happy to oblige.
Simon
Morning Simon,

Thank you very much for stepping forward Sir. I’m sure this could well be delivered to you in the next 2-3 weeks but Rick will best placed to advise.

It could be a large order as Rick is considering purchasing the required items for the remaining 3 lists, please have a think what might be needed for onward distribution. Maybe a second volunteer is in order?

Kind regards,

Tom

Simon, thanks for the offer and welcomed as we have "worked together" previously!

FYI, its probably not so onerous. From my spreadsheet with groups 3 and 4 out of everyone who expressed an initial interest 10 people followed that through to an order.

Out of the 10 who ordered, 6 are shared, 4 are posted direct.

But for now, groups 5 - 7 just be patient and I'll post when we are good to go on the next order.

If it's not too late, please can I be added to the list? I was moving house when this kicked off & haven't been paying attention.

If its ok with #Simufly i could potentially collect from Altricham as i go there quite frequently, i could also bring anyone elses back to Wakefield if that helps anyone out?
If not no problem!

Cheers

Yes no worries!

Right, update.
7 bundles are off in the post tomorrow so that clears groups 3 and 4. Many thanks to @justin-20V for helping with the UK distribution. Much appreciated and does make my life easier.

I'm just having a wee break from this and will post up instructions for the next round, with a suitable ordering window, on Friday. I'll cut and past all the members on 5/6/7 so they all get a "ping" but for now, I just want Gp 3+4 in the post and away.

Good morning Tom,
Is there any chance I could be added to this list also please? Just the one cable please.
