Handbrake Cable, Last Sweep

Hi folks, the last bunch of cables from the group buy has been organised, is in the UK and making their way to members. A couple of people have mentioned they missed the cut-offs and could they get cables and the answer is, yes.

So, if there are any stragglers who still need the odd one, please PM me and we can go from there to complete this. I think we bought 50 cables in total across all the orders....
Top tip for group buys and in general, select the receive notifications box and you'll keep up to date with new thread posts and not miss anything.

Just found I require my nearside one for my rear drum A2. Am I too late to obtain one for each side?
Evening, and no, its still ok to ask. Order is going in on May 20th so still time.
Please check Audi Tradition, find the parts that you need and importantly the part numbers. I ask you to do this as I'm not in the motor trade or connected to Audi in any way and you need to be confident that the bits are right for you. You can imagine the pain of sending stuff back from the UK via me to get a refund...
Then, email me [email protected] with all the info and I'll put it on the spreadsheet.

I would like two sets of brake cables for 2005 1.4 tdi with rear drum brakes. Could I please ask if anyone has the part numbers and descriptions of the necessary cables and guides please?
I have asked Rick if he would obtain them for me and he has agreed but has asked to do a trawl to see if other members would like to join in with a group purchase to economise with shipping etc.
Would others with a similar need please indicate a firm commitment to ordering so that Rick can know ?

I’ve a couple of AT and volico requirements so happy to do something alongside you. You’re not far from me so a central delivery could be arranged, depending on how urgent your need is?

My understand is that it’s just one particular part (which I’ve obtained a spare of through this route) rather than all the cables. Pretty sure cables are still available via TPS/Audi/auto doc etc?

I tried ordering both rear handbrake cables from Belfast Audi (for drum brakes) and was told they were no longer available ... ended up buying Pagid branded ones from ECP, they fit well and visually look like good quality, maybe a decent substitute ... I can update if anything to report.

What’s the problem with Handbrake Cables please ? Have I missed something ? Our 2003 1.4 Petrol needed a Handbrake Cable. Just took it to our local Tyre Depot ( Westgate Tyres Morecambe ) and they fitted a new Cable.

@66Beetle The order(s) the Rick sorted for us as group buys was for the central cable assembly that joins the upper ends of the 2 hand brake cables to the hand brake lever. No longer available.

Yes you can get the individual handbrake cables that run to the rear axle but no longer from Audi although there are several manufacturers out there that look like supplying very good replacements. Important to remember that early drum cars had both cables the same size where later ones had 2 different length cables. The cables for the rear disc axle are different again.

Evening Steve,

The origins of this thread was from here, which Steve @A2Steve initiated. Not long after starting the thread it was separated with some posts moved to this thread to start a group order.

If you don’t have time to read through the initial link then basically the handbrake cable comprises 3 parts. Central, off side and near side. The outer cable (off side and near side) are still available here in the UK but the central cable isn’t. Therefore this group order was for the central handbrake cable which is still plentiful in stock in Germany with Audi Tradition.

Hopefully that makes it clear Sir.

Kind regards,

Tom
