Handbrake Handle Modification

Hi All,

Just thought I'd share this Handbrake Handle modification with you all:

See photos:

When I bought my A2 the handbrake handle was split, I hated the look of the handle and looked about for a different one for ages and finally last week after a chat with a lovely Lady in the motor accessory shop called "Starting Grid" in West Calder she showed me old stock she had and I took a chance on the Rezistanz kit, it was originally £20 and after blowing the cobwebs and dust off it she gave me it for £10.

The Kit consisted of x1 Red Leather Gator, x1 Aluminium Handle with Red leather band, x3 Aluminium different sized end caps to allow for different button sizes, x1 allen key. x2 Grub allen key screws.

To start: I chopped the old handle three pronged fitment off the rear handbrake cover after removing the original handle, plus a further 2-3 mm off the cover with a buff so the button end would stick through to it's original distance.

The new aluminium handle had a screw thread at the rear, I widened the original rear plastic cover hole for this to screw into.

Then taking 2-3mm of the handbrake arm metal underneath just enough to allow the new Red leather/aluminium handle to be slipped on quite snugly without harming the mechanism rod, this was then secured by the two hex grub screws underneath the handle, they held it firm.

I had to take a little off the Black plastic A2 button with a grinder so it didn't rattle on the handle, it worked a treat as you can see, I think it looks good, I may stain the Leather a bit darker so it matches the Red leather steering wheel, we'll see?

Audi told me the original handbrake Chrome button is now obsolete so I added a bathroom decorative chrome screw end cap for bling.

I spoke with Steve B (God bless him) and he says "Depronman" on this forum has Chrome buttons for sale?

I may change it over for that but my only concern would be ending up with a rattle and I cant grind the chrome one, I may give it a go nevertheless. (Maybe the hole could be widened).

Hope this helps you all to add some extra bling on your A2's.

Any questions just ask!

Cheers

Doug

Looks sexy.

The end button should either be chrome, aluminium or a giant JEWEL! I like what you’ve done but I’d go for the diamanté myself

Sorry Steve b is mistaken. I can indeed provide 3D printed black hand brake buttons but not the chrome version

It is actually an aluminium skin over a slightly smaller version of the black abs plastic button
The aluminium is anodised to protect it

Nice job

Hi Paul,

I'm sure that's what Steve meant, it's still a silver button at the end of the day and that's what add's the bling.

Can you post a photo of it please?

Cheers
