Haynes manual

Hi

Had the A2 for a month now and just changed a brake light bulb (can't believe I had to spend £1.25 on the car - tut!). Having looked this up in the book that came with the car before doing it have realised how unhelpful it is, suggesting to go to an A2 dealer for such a simple job! Therefore fancy getting a haynes manual or similar for future reference. Can't find one on amazon or ebay though, surely one exists??

No haynes manual for the A2 (think they stopped making them now from a certain point).

Get in touch with Skipton01 (Mike) he has discs for sale which will help you with in this department. Sure he will explain it to you better than I just have!

Cheers,

Hi Lisa_R,

What jobs do you plan to tackle with your own hands? Are you planning to service your car yourself?

There are some useful "How to" guides on this site that you may want to cast your eye over.

If you don't have a set of torx screw drivers you should get some as these will make changing the headlight bulbs much easier.

Lisa, the brake lights are extremely easy to replace. Either side, there should be a plastic cover that can be opened. It will reveal the light cluster. There is a white part clipped onto the red lamp body. Unclip the white part and you have access to every light bulbs in there.

The manual everyone who owns an Audi/VW/Skoda/Seat should have is called the ElsaWin. It is widely pirated on the internet, meaning very accessible, free of charge, if you google it. You can also save the download and get it as DVD (no doubt they are all pirated copies) on ebay. Neither way should be considered legal I might say. Newer cars are only covered in the online version which you can pay for different lengths of access.

I've got the elsawin as my parents both have a2's and have to say I am not impressed with it. I have a haynes manual for my car and have to say I find it much better than elsawin. It seems to me that elsawin assumes you're already a mechanic whereas haynes assumes you know nothing and explains it to you in more detail.

Sadly A2 owners don't have any choice. There is no Haynes manual for our cars so the only option for home mechanics is the pirate copies of elsawin found on e.bay

Cheers Spike
