Haynes Motor Museum in the spring

Great idea @A2Steve, and only 3 miles down the road from Haynes, is the Royal Fleet Air Museum https://www.fleetairarm.com/ A great second stop, packed with historical aircraft including the BAC Concorde prototype. However, bank holiday traffic through Somerset is notorious. Suspect a regular weekend might be easier for those using the A303 or start out at dawn....

Right owe, I’ll bear that in mind but it’s often best to have a social on a bank holiday weekend because it allows those who will be travelling from further afield to drive down and stop the night before.

Is it likely to be that bad on a Sunday of a bank holiday for instance? I would hope that those holidaying would have travelled on the Friday and returning on the Monday evening.

Fab idea - the only thing I would mention though is that the early may bank holiday is a Friday (8th) next year and not a Monday.

Stanford Hall is normally the Sunday of the first bank holiday weekend, but I think they will still be having it on the 3rd, even though the Monday is the following weekend. Having said that, it is no problem having two socials on one weekend as Somerset makes it much more accessible to people who live in the South/South West.

If it is the bank holiday weekend, I will be with you in thought rather than person as I'll be in Cyprus :)

I'm interested Steve. Every time I go down the A303 I think I should pay a visit to Haynes.

I'll echo the A303 congestion. Sunday is worst I think - in mid September about 3pm I spent 30 mins nose-to-tell going east just near Haynes, so maybe Saturday is best.
