Headlights

Evening folks,

Topic is more for info / advice.. one thing that annoys me about my headlights and has done for a while is this (pictured) looks like the sidelight has burnt? This is on both sides just wanted to know if there is anyway to switch this out or is it new headlights if it bothers me that much?

Thanks Luke

Think the corrugated 'light tube' is part of the headlight shell.
For info the scorching often occurs when 5W sidelight bulbs are fitted as these run much hotter than the original 3W versions

You can remove and replace the sidelight plastic tube without having to split the headlamp unit.

Grip the top of the clear plastic making sure that you are only gripping the clear plastic rim and not the black plastic. Twist it clockwise and it lifts out.

I used long nose pliers, they seem to do the job.

Number 9 is the bulb-holder.

as you say someone will have to find another headlamp to take the light tube from.

But there should be plenty of donor headlamps around.
