Hello All,

Obviously new here, though I have met in passing a few a2 owners at various meets (ADI 2012 & '13) mainly as your stand was so approachable :) Anyway I have wanted an a2 for a while so thought i would join here and get the inside info first!

I have my eye on this...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/STUNNING-...4981780?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item1e91ca6e94

As experienced owners, is there anything from this ad that shouts out 'Don't buy me!' ?

Price is irrelevant, I have purposefully avoided ones with OS because I've read from here they can be temperamental.

Opinions?

Hi and WELCOME!!!!I wouldn't necessarily avoid an A2 if it has an OSS because I like the OSS so much that I would prefer to have an A2 with it even if that didn't open.

The amount of times in a year that you can have them open is limited and then you should ideally switch off the Air Con if you have it open, so a closed OSS is not a bad thing, it certainly makes the interior brighter?

As for the car in the advert, there is nothing that shouts "don't buy it" at all, but that is based on it being an honest advert and there being no adverse HPI details (Category C write off etc.)

It might be worth making an offer since it has been advertised for a while. The red leather is a bit of a "marmite" colour, I personally like it but some people don't and that may be the only reason it is not selling?

There is a thread on here that gives advice if you are considering buying an A2, I hope you have read that already?

Cheers

Thanks for the quick reply Steve,

I know what you mean about the seats, very marmite, though i have a Silver TT with red leather, the steering wheel on this a2 though is a bit S&M don't you think... would need to change that!

I have read quite a few threads, taking my time to decide though... a +1 is that the better half likes them :D

Hello and welcome!

I can't see any reason not to go for it. I'm sure there'll be plenty of other people who have spotted it, so pick up the phone ASAP. You can't delay when a nice A2 TDI hits the market.

The seller has clearly increased the contrast of the photos, making everything look shinier and hiding any blemishes, so be prepared for a car that isn't quite as immaculate as the photos suggest. But this doesn't mean you shouldn't buy it. Things like the worn climate control buttons can be replaced if you're looking for cosmetic perfection.

I'm not too far from you and I know the A2 inside-out. I also visit Neston not infrequently, so if I can be of help, please get in touch.

Cheers,

Tom

I have a black tdi and they look great when polished. The alloys on this one look mint!
The red leather seats well, marmite says it all! Love them or hate them it is personal choice.
The a2 is a quirky personal car so it just adds to the appeal to me.
Check the vosa site and you can view the mot's plus any advisory notes. This can often be matched with the service history. It's what I did for mine.
The experts on this site will keep you right.
Finally a broken oss is better in my view that none
I've had both.
Good luck!

The car looks good Pog with one owner and full history. My concern (and its only my preference) is that the sport is a "hard ride" with the SE models with 15" wheels being more "comfy". That could be whats putting potential buyers off plus the price. Its also difficult to know just how much to pay. Others may disagree but a good deal on this car without the leather seats would be around £3,000. Add the leather seats and other goodies pushes it up nearer to the £4,000 if you were to have them fitted yourself. The car would be a good buy for anything bet £3,500 and £4,000. Its been for sale for a while so if you like it make an offer - you never know and youve nothing to loose. Its not often that cars come up for sale with one owner and full Audi history.

On the "firm" ride aspect, not wishing to open up another debate, but it is all a question of personal preference as you say.

I don't find the sport ride uncomfortably firm and I have been running 18" wheels!!

Yes, logic dictates that 15" wheels will "soften" the ride a little, but I prefer the tighter feel of the sport suspension and the "go kart" steering response.
Many people find even the standard A2 suspension to be too firm and so I am not disagreeing with those opinions, I am just saying that what is classed as firm to one person might be seen as "sporty" or "planted" to another.

So your thoughts on why this hasn't sold sound likely, but I think it could also be due to it being on the "expensive" side and with an interior colour that some people love and others don't like?

Vivre le difference and all that?

Red leather is the best interior for the A2 and it has to be silver in colour :)

hi,

im not too sure how many colour variants in leather that are available with the a2 but i do like the alacantra/leather in the dark grey/black. i still like the cream but not too fussy on the red as i think thats more suited to a women, sorry for being sexist.

i have blue leather (not my favourite) and although a good match for my car being azure blue it is very cold looking/feeling :(

Hi Cammy,

If you ever plan to change the seats my daughter is looking for blue leather seats for hers, she already has the blue trim on the door panels, but blue cloth seats and with a young son, she really wants/needs leather!!

I like the camel colour leather, only seen 2 A2s in UK with it. Never released it in the uk unfortunately. Personally I like the red leather, really suits the black interior personally I don't like the blue leather.

I really like the blue leather, which is a good thing seeing as I've just installed them! Matching door cards really brighten the interior, black was never an option for the opposite effect. Just after buying my car I spotted one with every option ticked which had cream leather/alcantara, looked good but... not the most practical.
P.S, as for the red, just can't imagine sitting behind a red steering wheel!

Cream leather / Alcantara.
I didn't know that combination existed.

My wife's A2 is currently cream leather and it could do with an uplift.
If there is s cream / alcantara option that would be mega rare but I would love to find that.

It was a fantastic looking car, black with OSS. £5k with ~35k on the clock and with every option imaginable. I'd bought mine the day before and was having 2nd thoughts, first car jitters, my mind was put at ease when it sold within hours of being posted on Autotrader. Really nice interior and not one I've seen since.
