Always very interesting to look at an engine out of the car. Maybe you can see some other signs of what happened with it and can scavenge some parts. Despite this work I still feel you got very lucky getting a red A2 for (less than?) scrap value and you're saving a nice car. :)

We found that the alternator was totally seized, A tie rod with broken rubber and some other small stuff. It may be that the alternator is causing the engine to turn heavily. My mechanic friend thinks so. So possibly after checking a few other things, and changing the timing belt old engine might go back in again.............

In fairness it makes far more sense to save them in Northern Europe as they’re so expensive to buy. None the less, a sterling effort and lovely looking car

I am not sure exactly how much i have spent on parts and repairs but I do believe i should come out above water. I am not selling though. I was planning to keep this one a while as all my other vehicles are gas guzzlers.

What surprised me is that A2's appear to be more expensive in Germany than they are in Finland at the moment. Don't know of any other car for which that is the case.
Do you happen to know why second-hand cars are so cheap in the UK? Very jealous of the crazy low prices I hear in British car media.

Runs like a clock, Just put 60 kilometer on her. :) :)

Great to hear your car is doing well. Very satisfying after all that work. Hope you have many happy miles!
