Hi, my name is Justin and after much searching have managed to acquire a 2001 A2 1.4 petrol in Crystal Blue and with only 41k on the clock.

Many thanks to the members of this club. Whilst researching A2s I inevitably found that articles published by many an varied members came up in search results. An amazingly knowledgeable and friendly bunch.

The car is pretty pristine so not much to do:

Thus far I have given it a good clean, betting rid of any tar splats
VCDS scan, all good
Managed to secure an A4 climate control from Latvia (amazingly just £20 plus £1.90 postage and it got here very quickly) for a button swap. I have the awful soft touch issue but climate control now looks as-good-as new

Whats planned:
I’m not able to confirm the status of the cam belt and water pump so I’m working on the basis they may have never been changed, so will get these done asap.
I’ve sorted the climate control but I need to address problems with all the other soft touch areas such as electric window switches, headlight switch etc.
It has has a minor knock on the back bumper. Difficult to see at a casual glance but I may change the rear bumper at some point as it will bug me

Other than that I’m going to enjoy the £400 a year saving in road tax and astonishing fuel consumption

Hi
Wow that’s handy, I’m just down the road from you in Hickstead. Definitely need a new light switch, mine works ok but it’s in a shocking state, most of the symbols worn off, seems to be the usual problem

Justin

Hi Justin:
It would be good to meet you & your A2 at some stage, though the only light switch I have at the moment is for a A2 without fog lights.
Cheers
Ami

Welcome aboard from a fellow AUA owner. Please get the cambelt and water pump attended to ASAP. Ages ago I was foolish enough to purchase a car from a trader who said that the cambelt had been done. Stamped in service book etc. Car was a disaster having done 140000 miles. Turned out the stamped history was a figment of the said traders imagination so I took it to some very fine specialists who changed it for me. Their comment was that I was very lucky as mine was "hanging by a thread" and they were certain that it was the original!

Best of luck and very useful to have Ami just up the road.
