Hi,

I have jsut become a proud owner of a 53 plate 1.6FSI in Ebony black, 17 inch alloys, steamed up passenger's front light (to fix - thanks already to the forum I know how to) that's done 95,000 miles. The car has had a new water pump, coils, 2 cambelt changes and ARB.

I've downsized from a 3.0TDI Quattro A5, and have had B7 & 8 A4s and cabriolets, so I'm no stranger to the brand. What amazes me however the space - it is absolutely unbelievable and the 'zippiness' of the little 1.6. Yes, I miss the toys and 500NM of torque and the 295bhp (remapped) V6, but it's a little beauty and already covetted by the wife.

Jobs to do:

Proper clay, polish (Menzerna R203 and Meguiars Ultra Finishing) with a DA, Werkstatt Prime and Glos followed by Autofinesse SPIRIT carnauba wax. There are a couple of touch ups to do on the back and the coolant will need a little G13 added. I'll valet the interior too - but apart from that - I'm well chuffed!

Photos to come when the snow's melted!

Hi and welcome to a2oc. You sure know your car cleaning by the sound of it. Great little cars that can really surprise people with the space inside.
I hope your interested in joining some of us at a social ? Keep an eye on the social section for up coming shows/events/days out/camping. Cheers mike

Hi and welcome from me too,

I can certainly recommend the social events Mike has touched on above, all are made very welcome, and it would be great to chat to someone who has experience using a DA (I have a Meg 220v2 but not got around to learn how to use it yet).
Most of the regulars at these events like their cars looking nice, but very few are obsessive, although I boarder OCD on this subject.

As for coolant….you need G12 plus

Cheers

Jeff

The socials will be good if I can get a little time off! As for the polishing, I am a bit obsessive - but owning a car that is a decade old is an experience in itself for me, so I'm going to see if I can resurrect a little bit of the 'factory shine' or better!

As I've had the car a few days now a couple of points have come to light. I've had some serious judder in 1st gear....hope it's not the clutch on its way....but some days it's good, others not so. In addition, I've booked it for an oil change (OpieOils +filter and Plug pre-bought) and 4 wheel tracking as the steering wheel is way off centre. Apart from that I didn't top up with coolant (G13 is the new Audi spec now, so I was going for that instead of G12, G12+ or G12++ !!!!) as it has had a second cambelt change with all the other bits at 87k including coolant.

As for fuel - 34-36mpg at the mo, which I suppose for a 1.6fsi is alright. I was tempted by the diesel and the petrol 1.4, but the sound of the 1.6 (apart from at startup!) is really cheeky!

Thanks for the kind welcome one and all!

Mike
