Help to identify a hose

Evening All.

Hopefully a quick and easy question.

I went out to look at the washers on my wife's 1.4 petrol A2 and as I was reattaching the washer pipe, I noticed this hose doesn't look the healthiest. Does anyone know what it is and where I could get a new one, please.

I also noticed this hose, just dangling at the side of the engine bay?

That’s the run off hose from the scuttle panel I believe. Someone will be along
To correct me no doubt

The dangling one looks like it could be the drain from the scuttle, it's supposed to route the water down onto the undertray.

The first picture is the hot air intake from the manifold heat shield to the airbox the second is the scuttle drain pipe

Hi John237084,
The hot air hose to the air box may well
go to a flap valve that shuts off the warm air via a vacuum line & a bimetallic strip, it should close once the engine is hot , if it doesn’t it can cause issues.

Thanks everyone. The hot air hose is intact internally, but the wire carcassing has started to come away, so I'll need to replace it soon. Any ideas where from?

I don’t believe it’s this complex

I think the second pic is a (bonnet) drain pipe, if it is, it should have a 'plastic cup' on the end which attaches to the car.
Without the 'cup' (& fixed into correct position), water will likely be dripping directly on to alternator = not good.

Me neither.

One of my 1.4 Petrols has this, the other doesn’t since replacing the front components of the car after hitting something big.

The new air filter box didn’t have anywhere to connect the tube to. Both cars run perfectly. Have done for about 2 years.

Then why would Audi take hot air to the intake side with no control??

They take the hot air in to heat up the cats faster. As for a control I’ve not seen anything electrical in the area where it joins the intake but I haven’t looked for it. Happy to learn if you can find a reference for it.
