Hey All, hopefully getting my a2 tommorow!

Hi, I am looking at buying an a2 tommorow an 02 1.6fsi, with 100k on the clock. Went to see it today all seemed well but there was a rather weird gurgling noise coming from the front of the engine, almost like someone was sucking air through a straw? Anyone know what this could be as this is the only thing giving me a bit of hesitation about buying the car?

Sorry, can't help with regards to the noise, but if you're buying through a dealer you do at least have a warranty.
 
Welcome to the forum. Was this noise on start up when the engine was cold? Most if not all cars are a bit noisier on start up and the A2 is no diffferent. Our 3 cylinder TDi can be quite tractor like on start up with a cold engine, and I recall another new member posting a you tube video worrying about his FSi sounding like a diesel when cold - it was confirmed as quite normal.

Why not ask to get it checked over by a mechanic or arrange an AA/RAC inspection for peace of mind. If you posted the location of the car for sale, you may be lucky and another forum member who knows their stuff may be willing to help you look at the car.

Good luck - if youre really not confident though - walk away and wait for another one.
