Hi Guys n Gals im new to the Audi A2 forum as ive been doing some searching
for my wife initially i was trying to get her a 1.4 tdi but as im in Scotland there are none for sale only the petrol A2's, all tdi's seem to be south of the border.

Can someone tell me roughly what it is to fill the fuel tank and how many miles you get from a 1.4 petrol and 1.6 petrol, just trying to compare with the diesel.

Also i fancied the sat nav idea but notice that the climate control unit is different with A2's fitted with Sat Nav than the ones without, are they expensive to buy also is it a straight swap, as i'd like to fit satnav in it for her also where could i possibly buy one if need be.

I also fancy the bodykit that driveforward is fitting, is this an audi kit is it still available as the A2's are no longer in production and whats the retail on these.

hope i haven't asked to many questions

I love the projectzwo rear spoiler and wheels
thats not bad for a 1.6 running super is the road tax the same as the 1.4
£100 for the year?

Hello and welcome Marco,

Whatever you buy, the A2 is an outstandingly good car and will provide many years of service, with a little TLC from you!

If you want to fit the OEM Sat Nav (known as RNS-E) then make sure you get a car with a double height radio already fitted, otherwise, you're in a world of pain, as the dash needs to swapped out, which costs nearly £600 before you even buy the satnav itself!

In the real world, this means looking for a car with the 'Symphony2' option, which is a combined radio/cassette/6cd changer.

The body kit is still available from dealers, but it's pricey at about £700 and not really viable unless you come across one on Ebay or the like.

As for the tank filling business, early (pre-2002) cars had a 34 litre tank and later cars have a 42 litre tank. This is true for petrol and diesel, so work out the costings based on this and your prices up there for fuel.

If you can get hold of a diesel, be it 75 or 90 PS, then it's worth travelling for it as they are very frugal on juice, very torquey and extremely good fun to drive. At the risk of upsetting the 1.4 petrol owners, they are nowhere near as good fun and although pretty good on juice, they are a little gutless. The 1.6 FSi is rev-happy and quick, but feels slower than a diesel.

Best of luck in your search, keep us updated.

Cheers,

Mike

Hi Marco, welcome to the A2oc.
I run a diesel so can't comment on tank mileage but please be aware the fuel tank is bigger on later cars.
If adding factory fit sat nav at a later date is a high priority then look for a car with the double din size Symphony radio unit and DIS system. This would make the change relatively easy and the DIS gives the direction arrows and junction countdown in the instrument display. Unlike most other Audis, the A2 dashboards cannot be converted to double din and the whole unit would need to be changed to fit sat nav. The dash alone is over £600 plus several hours labour to fit.

Hi Marco,

I am also in Scotland, and have just bought a TDi75.I looked at about 8 before deciding on the present one; Apart from one FSi, I found nothing but Diesels!

I think our 2nd choice is atill available in Stirling.

not sure - i'll go have a look in a sec.

Hi Marco,

Can't remember! I will have a look through the paperwork later today and see if I can find it again; Thy had a blue TDi and a silver FSi with bench. Stirling Audi were due to get in a late TDi- which may have been Black?

I'll try to get back to you later!

Hi

Don't forget that an alternative to the sat nav plus was the DIS only display sat nav (although this is only DX CD based) with buttons near the handbrake. Don't know if anybody has ever retro fitted but I do know that the different storage tray by the handbrake that is required costs £30. The unit sits by the battery under (the 2nd) boot floor.

Thanks Spike

We've already got this type of sat nav installed in our A2. It was spec'd when new but its an interesting thought to retro fit it in the dog's car (A6 Avant)

Hi Marco,

2xA2s were at Johnston Motors, Causewayhead Rd, Stirling. FK9 5EY, ph 01786 447100.

It gave us an opportunity to drive an FSi and the TDi back to back, which was well worthwhile.
