Hi from Canada

Hi all, we live in Canada (the A2 never made it here but I've always admired its adventurous design); we have a home in Bristol and make fairly regular trips to the UK. We expect to be moving to Ireland in the spring so the search is on (low key at this stage) for a good A2 as a second car. Fancy a TDI 90 at the moment...

Welcome to the forum and good luck with your search for a nice car. Lots of advice available on here and also many cars for sale get spotted and posted here too.

Welcome to the club. It would be a pleasure to help you find your perfect A2. Lovely part of the world you are in. My sister in law lived in oakville for 7 years and we had a few happy holidays around ontario.

What a coincidence Murdo - my brother and family lived in Oakville (240 Westdale Road) in the early 80's and we visited a couple of times. He eventually moved to Vancouver Island as he preferred the more 'English' climate to the cold winters and hot/humid summers of Ontario.

Cheers Spike

It's a small world! Sis stayed in one of the new build estates. The old town is lovely. Great base for some exploring.

Thanks for your kind welcome. I'm sure I'll be looking for advice. Meanwhile, you are right -- Canada is a great place to live. Oakville is just down the road (380 km) and we go there often. Vancouver Island is a longer stretch but a firm favourite. On to new challenges. For the car, I think accident-free, corrosion-free and good service history are essential -- the rest can be taken on its merits

Hi Stuart, good morning: I got to the Stafford Audi car first.... (Suzy)

However, this is more important for you and you need to consider as I posted yesterday on audisport.net:

"An AUDI A2 with FULL Stafford Audi Service History...

Steve Hampton the after-sales/service manager at Stafford Audi has just telephoned me to ask if I know anyone who may want a 2003 1.6fsi Audi A2 in black with 90 something miles. The car has been fully maintained by Stafford Audi for a very long time and comes with ALL documentation; Steve says "it's a good 'un"

£3000 ish I'd say; the owner's changing to a new VW... I don't know, talk to Steve Hampton (Tel: 01785 250444) as he's actively trying to assist the owner: a great group of people at Stafford Audi.

Now, anyone wanting a cheap runabout at a 'low' price with FULL service history need to telephone Steve and/or ask on Sunday...

These A2's are getting very collectable, they don't rust and the spares are cheap: Audi lost £4000 on each and every one as they were used to develop the A8 - all aluminium and plastics...

Can be used as a FULL 4-seater or pull out the rear seats (2-minutes) and use it as a van!

Had our 1.4Tdi Audi A2 'Suzy' 2-weeks now, our second A2, and Sunday will be the next time I drive BLUEY (and Audi RS3)

Yup! The Audi A2's that good for me...

I'm a 100% fan of Stafford Audi and them of me - don't know why but hey! But if Steve Hampton takes the time to tell me this is a good car then I guess it'll be a very good car...

Time for an update: the plan until a few weeks ago was to relocate to Ireland, but that was changed at the beginning of March to Sheffield! So we landed at Heathrow yesterday from Canada, drove up to Sheffield, bought an A2 today and here we are! I've been keeping a very close eye on the A2s that have been coming on the market since I started looking in January and as I said at the outset preferred a TDI 90. More and more I fancied OSS, but so it seems does everyone else...

I spotted this nice-looking one last week http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classif...uel-type/diesel/channel/cars/page/1?logcode=p on Autotrader so figured that I'd better take the very risky step of putting a deposit on it from 3000 miles away based on pictures, descriptions and a phone call... Having picked it up this morning, it looks like the basis of a very nice car. No OSS and 5 seats rather than my preference for 4, but a lot of unexpected goodies included.

Now I'll update my details on the forum.

Yey, another Sheffielder! Uk's greenest city! in the top ten for happiness. Good luck Stuart and give your fellow A2ers a flash!
Blue 53plate 90 (tho unbadged) Totley,Bradway area.

hi stu,

welcome to the best forum in the world! im guilty of not paying as much attention to the newbies as i should so better late than never! lol

anyways, just thought i would wade in and say we visit a place called whitechurch stouffville in ontario every year with the family as my father-in-law stays there :)

i always wondered why the a2 didnt make it to canada as audi has become very popular over the years. it would make perfect sense for someone to import one from europe but i imagine that the cost would be considerable.

lets hope you get the a2 your looking for....happy a2ing when it happens.

cammy
