Hi all

Due to a recent job change I needed to get hold of a new daily runabout to replace my trusty Mk2 Golf 1.3 digijet...

Picked up an 03 plate 1.4tdi SE, 155k on the clock for a not unreasonable £2k...

I am a seasoned VAG owner and always had a soft spot for the A2... I love the engineering behind it and the £30 a year tax plus (currently) 64mpg she is perfect as my second car...

Not without a couple of issues of course but will go into details about that later...

Absolutely love the car... Will get some pics up shortly

Hi, hope you enjoy new car! The TDI's are supposed to be capable of starship mileage, so you should get another 50-100K miles from it, if not more. Is yours the 75 or 90 version? I'm no expert but I bought my current 75 on the basis that they are slightly more reliable than the 90s, but I'm happy to be corrected.

Its a 75... I have posted some pics but will need a kindly mod to approve the post :)

Yeah... mines the BHC engine code rather than AMF but still has the non VNT turbo... not sure if its got as dual mass flywheel or not... looks like a solid one from what I can see when having a look on the ramp..

I have a couple of issues to resolve on her though... getting a fault code from the ABS module suggesting either a faulty sensor or possibly the ABS sensor ring (both sides have had new ABS sensor cables fitted recently it seems)

Also discovered the wiper arm was pretty much falling apart so have replaced that too (not exactly cheap lol)

Will be a case of just getting her to a tip top running condition and leaving her alone I think although I have a lazy eye out on eBay for another engine that I can rebuild at some point... I have no intention of selling her tbh (bit like my S3) as I am not really a fan of newer cars as I can't tinker with them lol

Niice vehicles Tuffty. I like your 'belt and braces' approach to the servicing of the A2!

Always had a soft spot for the S3.

Nice work.

Thanks all... the S3 was bought with the intention that it should be sporty enough out the box but I have been modding cars since I could drive so it wasn't long before I started playing with her...

I am trying to resist playing with the A2 too much but suspect that won't last long either lol...

My belt and braces approach is partially due to my OCD but I also like to know where I stand with my cars so by doing it all at least I know its done...

Tis done. That's a beautiful and pristine looking S3 with fab spec ( and a lovely A2 of course;)

Thanks murdo... the S3 has been modded quite a bit although it may not be obvious as I am a big OEM plus fan and have worked quite hard to keep under bonnet mods looking as factory as poss...

I am almost tempted to go the other way with the A2 and going for blue silicon hoses etc just because no one would expect it lol...
