Hi Guys ...

Be gentle with me as this is my first post ....

Just purchased (but not collected) my first (and seeing as they don't make them any more) and last A2.

I went for the A2 TDI 90 Sport in Akoya Silver :D .. a 53 plater (Jan 2004) with 23K on the clock.

Seemed like a right larf on the test drive and I think its cool having a 3 cylinder Motor just like my Triumph Speed Triple .. :p

The Missus approves (which makes a change) ... just need to sort out the insurance and tax (£85!! )

Anyways .... found you lot via google .... any tips then fire away !!!

cheers ULP....

I'm looking fwd to picking her up ...

First schoolboy error ..... she's Grey not akoya

I know what you mean about the styling ... I hadn't even been looking at an A2 ... I was actually trying to source a nice 2nd hand Mini Cooper but everyone i looked at the same price point was a minger ...

I happened across the A2's whilst walking past Walton Audi and had to sit in and walk round one to see that its a much better bet for me ....

I've only taken the TDi90 for a quick spin but she's got far more poke than the mini's i drove anyways ...

I can't believe that something this fun comes out so cheap on the Fuel, Tax and Insurance (i've just got £217 FC on Directline) ....

Just need to source a spacesaver to complete the package...

Plus Minis are common as muck, round here at least.

I've got an AA card and a 15" Audi wheel and tyre in the garage as a temp replacement. The AA will get me home and then the 15" as a temp job while the flat gets mended.

The different assembly under the boot floor just gets you a bolt to fasten the space saver down with. Without the false floor it would still bolt to the floor of the boot and not under it. Theres a massive battery taking up all the space.

Welcome Jashper. Hope you enjoy the car & forum. I've found the forum immensly informative since before we owned our first A2.

If you get a spare which will fit under the floor, bolting it down is optional. We didn't with our first A2 & it never moved around under the false floor. Even when we rolled the car, the spare still stayed in the boot area.

Hi Jashper,

I have recently purchased an A2 myself and I love every minute spent behind the wheel, as I am sure that you will too. Congratulations on a fine choice. I have the [75 bhp] diesel engine myself and I am more than happy with the performance that this car delivers and would expect your 90 bhp model to leave you with a big grin on your face as you 'surprise' a few of the boy racers out there with the superb level of torque that accompanies this car.

Like you I found this forum by chance after searching for quite a while and I am pleased to say that everyone on here is genuinely friendly, informative, helpful and mad about the A2.

Best of luck with the car and happy motoring!!:)

Darren,

The '90' is the only A2 i've driven ... i thought i'd be d!cking around too much if i tried all 4 variants and then made a decision ....

AS its sposed to be my fun car (as opposed to our family DCI Scenic!!) i knew i'd plump for one of the 2 more powerful cars ... it was just a choice between the FSI and TDi90 .... mind you a 'small' petrol engine seems like hard work (keeping her reving etc) after driving a bigger (if heavy) 1.9 diesel ...

Its a Torque thing for me .... something I enjoy with my 955cc 3 Cylinder Triumph ... it would kill me to go back to a smaller cc 4 cylinder sports bike which needs to be worked hard to get the best ....

I've just seen that theres guys on here with 118 BHP Tdi's ... I'd love to see how they go (and last) at some point

Having Discs all round was another reason for going 'up the range' too .... drums seem a little too 'retro' for me (even if they are great) and I really believe that the lighter weight of the A2 and 4 Discs should mean some strong braking ????

C U around ....

I can't remember who it was but someone was showing people what a chipped TDi A2 felt like at Castle Coombe 2004 - just a quick whizz up & down the paddock before we left. I don't think anyone was left wanting.

Welcome to the world of A2 Jashper. How long 'til you pick her up?

I've had mine for almost 2 months now, also Grey in Sport spec but a 1.4 petrol which we find is just the job for most of the driving we do. There's certainly something about the little A2 that has put some enjoyment back into my driving - I think it's the direct go-kart like handling and the fact that it's such a unique looking car that does it for me.

Enjoy yours when you get it - I'm sure you will...
