Hi Level Rear Brake Light Issues

As a new owner of a A2 1.6 FSI i am having problems with the rear hi level brake light coming on with the side and main headlights, is this correct?

When the sidelights or main headlights are off the brake lights inc the high level led one comes on as normal. When the lights are turned on the rear lights seem very bright and when the brakes are applied there is a slight increase in light intensity from the brake lights. Any ideas, i have checked the fuses and bulbs.

This sounds like a fault with the brake light bulbs - remove the 2 bulbs from the rear light clusters and see how the LED strip functions.

Then check the bulbs - they should be the type with offset pins on the base (not opposite sides to each other). I've seen a similar fault with my neighbours car when the bulbs were inserted incorrectly.

Your right, checked the bulb and the lugs were not offset. changed over and everything works ok. I did notice when the wrong bulb was in when i applied the brakes the front side lights came on as well!!
