Hi - new member in Hebden Bridge West Yorks

Hi
Did you manage to sort your coachwork out? A2steve has a breaker at the moment, and by accident I have discovered an alloy body wizard in Somerset. Charlies garage in Somerton. Charlies Classic and Custom Body and Paint. He is worth contacting.

As ever, all the best
Simon
Hi Simon
Thanks for message. I got in touch with that firm in Leeds who sound promising. They are awaiting some photos of the damage from me but I havent gotten round to stripping away the temporary tape to do that. I have got some new aluminium tape off ebay arriving next week as stop gap. More of priority before xmas was getting cambelt/pump replaced and its now booked for full service in January so will get round to it in February I suspect. In the mean time it is just a cosmetic thing so not urgent.

@gcrhill pm me if you want me to cut a panel for you.
Hi Steve. I think cutting a panel is the way to go with this actually. The panel that got ripped away is in the boot but pretty mangled. How would I go about this in terms of the shape required? and what would you be looking for £££ including transit? That might make my mind up. I have seen cost of a whole side panel and it was pretty savage! In mean time I have some aluminium waterproof tape coming from ebay as the duck tape is starting to come away a bit in the cold and wet weather! I also have the repair where it was keyed down all the side panels to fix but the focus for me has been getting the cambelt/water pump sorted and a full service which is booked for later this month. Fortunately it is purely cosmetics rather than anything else. Cheers again really appreciated Graham

Send me a photo of how big a section you want and we can go from there and I’ll do a good price for you.

Just resurrecting.

@gcrhill What was the outcome?
When I saw the damage I did wonder if a body cut could be "bonded" in-place.
ie joddle the original body so a cut could be epoxy'd then a bit of filler to smooth off.

Not sure, but i did send him a section of the quarter panel from memory.

Thanks for asking. The car passed its MOT with no advisories (again) and the tape and bubble wrap has so far kept it rolling. I am very grateful to still have the cut out part in the garage for a repair if needed but deferring that as long as possible as its effectively cosmetic issue and I am not bothered on a £500 car as otherwise it is running like a dream.

Thanks for the update. I was thinking you may have been the founder of aluminium patch panelling 😉 .
Many modern cars use adhesive and aluminium can't be the easiest material to weld in patch repairs.
