Hi my name is Mario and guess what my wife's name is very difficult her's is Maria ,just kidding,anyhow, just wanted to introduce myself as my wife and I got a 2002 audi a2 1.4 last week,but sadly my engine light just came on as my wife was driving and getting used to the car the car stall twice and the engine light came on so the time to get a Vag-com I guess this is the tool to read the codes is here,wish me luck!

The German forum is on the whole written in German. There are some users here who are on both, I think Brett is one of the German forum moderators?
 
As Jeff said its written mostly in German. But if you view it in google crome browser then it translates quite well.

Also.....just to add....

The German forum has no objections to posting in English........In fact (from personal experience :eek:) they would prefer pure English text rather than Google translated text.

Welcome Mario and Maria. Sounds like the throttle body needs cleaning. Mine did that when I first got it. Best of luck Colin.

What do you guys think is the issue?

I'm no techy - but a quick google of the p1178 fault code suggests it's related to O2 lambda sensor. Theres quite a bit of chat about this on here and across other forums.

You maybe need to have the car investigated with full diagnostics scan to highlight the specific issue.
 
The P relates to powertrain faults
P1178 is an error code for "heated oxygen sensor" failure - so either the sensor itself, or the wiring going to it.
Do you have any noticeable running issues?

Thank you guys,I did notice the car lost power, I need to press the gas pedal in order to keep going on driveways or stop lights also as driving uphill seems to loose power.
 
I spoke to soon,now after I cleaned the throttle body and air filter,oil filter i get this codes EPC,ABS,(!) big red in the middle and the beep! this code appeared.
P01178 open, P0106 Map sensor, p0135 O2 sensor heater malfunction bank one sensor 1,can this be the throttle body did not get a good cleaning?
