Highest mileage A2?

Just wondering who has the highest mileage A2 out there. Mine has 47,500 miles (about 79,000 kms).

Anyone more than this? Any longer term problems emerged?

I'm only halfway there..(40000 km) looks like you'll enjoy your second
VSI maintenance in a few months? Let us know all about it..

I got mine 1st May this year and I have done 23500 miles (37600kms). The only annoying problem mine has developed is the drivers seatbelt reel is slacker than it was, but on the first service (20000 miles) they denied the problem but I will moan again at 40000 or 17 weeks time.

I find it a fantastic high mileage vehicle and I don't get backache with it.

@paul: did you have any problems with your car so far?
Mine has 29´km; I drove 19´of them since January.

I hope you're meaning thousands of km - could that be Mm for Mega-metres?

I wonder with these high milers how long you between the services - surely a high milage car (mostly motorways) means higher milage between services, and with the A2's variable servicing, just how high can it go?

Hi Paul, I was wondering how you were doing. I am up to 36000 miles now in just under a year. I must be catching you up. My first service was at 30500 miles and cost me £370.00 which included new front brake pads. (Not bad considering my Pug 306 HDI would of needed 2 major and 3 interim services which would of cost £700 - £800). DIS is now indicating next service at 60500 miles. This will be interesting (but expensive) as I think it is a cambelt replacement. I also took out an unlimited mileage warranty, therefore should still be covered when it reaches 100K. Looks like so far I do have the highest mileage A2...

The A2 has proved to be a very good high mileage car. First service was at 31000, next indicated at 62000. The only problems are blown headlamp bulbs (one a few weeks ago and now the other one tonight), and the tailgate that won't open - being fixed tomorrow with any luck.

Otherwise the car is like new, both in finish and the way it drives.

I find it much better on long journeys than bumping along around town or country roads with the (really awful) suspension. On motorways it will cruise all day quite happily, and very economically.

How about a thread on who has the highest mileage before they replaced their A2 due to faults-I think mine was about 2500 miles!.

My 2000 A2 TDi SE is a few miles short of 50K currently. Only problems have been a couple of bulbs blowing. Fuel consumption has never come near expectations with about 300 miles usual on a tankful of DERV. I have a young son (20 months) and the standard cloth trim as fitted (sorry not anorak wearing enough to know proper name) is absolutely hopeless. All four seats are horibly stained from spilt drinks / melted chocolate etc. If you have young ones I would certainly recommend leather. Considering engine size etc the A2 certainly punches above it's weight in performance terms. I find the performance is easily on a par with your average 1.6l petrol car and it eats big 4x4's for breakfast (Disco's, Range Rovers etc)especially up hill. I do notice that many other road users (especially white van man) resent being overtaken by a car which has 1.4TDI labelled on the tail gate. I have suffered quite a lot of road rage incidents in this car which I put down to this fact. I may de-badge the car and see if this helps.
 
Darn - mostin beats me to the highest mileage so far. I'll just have to pop to John O'Groats a couple of times next week to get even...:(

Have you got extended warranty, or will you have a major engine blow-up at 60,001 miles?

Incidentally, anyone know if you can purchase extended mileage warranty later on. My car will be 2 years old with 60k miles or more at March 2003. Can I extend the mileage cover to 100k now?
