No - if it has a 5 speed still then someone has changed the fifth ratio; it was a common mod before the six speed upgrade from modern VAG group cars became more accessible secondhand.

Backstory Looked into the Polo BlueMotion gearbox as an option for my A2. I always felt that the standard A2 was undergeared for motorway driving with the high engine RPM noise too loud. A few other options are covered on this site for gearbox mods, but they are either too expensive...

Hi Steve, many thanks for that link, and the explanation of road driving performance. Really
interesting...I find that I hold onto 4th gear until 60mph, then use 5th...motorway/autoroute cruising is great!
