Hmm, i've talked with 4 A2 owners who all were previous owners of Honda Civics, they had no connection to eachother.

I am also a previous owner of a Civic and i've got the impression that some of u guys have also had Civics in the past. Isnt that a wierd coincidence?

Which one of you have had a Honda (and which model)?

I have an A2 company car and my wife has a Honda Jazz, she used to have the old Honda civic. I think both Honda and Audi have a reputation for quality

I know a few guys from Audi GmbH Engineering, and a few people from some other major OEM's and a lot of them drive Honda's. They will openly admit that Honda's are better than there own domestic motors for quality, and also secretly tell you that Honda's are their internal benchmark cars for quality.

Original CRX (New)
Civic DX (2nd hand - departed company and car)
Civic ESI (New)
Prelude 2.0 (New - the sleek one)

Excellent cars but high mileage killed me on servicing ended up in the garage every 4 months...

Okay, here we go:

1999-2001 Honda Civic Aerodeck (new, company car)
2002/2003 Honda Civic 3d Hatch (old, 1992)
And my mother: had a 1991 Honda Civic Shuttle for some time and now spends all her money on her 1992 Honda CRX

I still benchmark all my cars by the first Civic Aerodeck. But that's also because it was my first real car (which is great when you're only 25-something!)

Although only a measly 1.4, I loved the Civic's engine to death. No other car sounds like that and revs that good, even in standard disguise. Wasn't able to break the engine in those 2,5 years/125k km of company car trashing. Even when running on badly adjusted LPG installations.

I'll always consider a Honda for my next car. Forever. But since they are on the expensive side for what they offer (equipment-wise), the choice is always difficult.

If I ever have the money and space, I'll buy myself an older CRX del Sol (the last model) and conserve it for fun!

I know: it's all irrational rambling.

Maybe Audi A2 and Honda meet because both of them are a fairly rare sight? Owners of either brand look for something special, be it engine or designwise.

When I got my Civic type S last Jan. (2.0ltr, 160ps but at v. high revs!) I had thought seriously about an A2. But, decided to go with Honda for the first time, as the 75hp output of the TDI didn't appeal. I had no idea then of the 90hp TDI. A factor also was that the A2 was in the run-out phase. BTW, heard a rumour re 1.6 turbo-diesel based on the new all-Honda design in the Accord. It may be Honda again if they bring this to the Civic replacement or even better, the Jazz.

New diesel Accord Tourer - but I think Honda are better quality than Audi, but have only had it three weeks. The A2 came first.

Why are NEARLY all the A2s in Lichfield silver ? ? ?

I had a 2002 Honda Civic Type-R for just over a year. It was a wonderful car, but sadly cost too much for fuel, tyres (as you get through a set of fronts in 6 months) and the insurance was dear also. Picked up a cheap (read cr@p) Seat Ibiza 1.4 and got rid of it for my A2 after about three weeks of having it.

The A2 is a lovely car and I'm certainly happy with it, but I do still miss that 2 litre i-VTEC.

And just what is wrong with a Seat Ibiza???? Eh, urm, eh????

The Ibiza was fine in as much as it gets you from a to b, but was nothing special. You must remember that I'd just come down from a Type-R, so nothing slow was really going to please me too much. So getting the A2 was a halfway house between my Honda and sensible car. I no longer have the power and fun associated with the Type-R, but I have a comfortable small, sensible car that knocks the socks off the Seat. When we went to the Audi garage, we sat in the car we subsequently bought and the quality just stood out instantly.

I guess that having the complete downgrade to the Seat, then the upgrade to the Audi has made me appreciate the car I now drive a whole lot more.

When I went from my Leon to my A2, I did notice a better touchy-feely quality, but then when I had 10 times as many problems with my A2 than I did with my Leon, that perception was somewhat tarnished.

I still love Audi, just wished the 2 A2's I had didn't have as many problems, and the Audi dealer had an idea of what customer service was!

SEAT Altea next for me......

I owned a Honda Civic 1.6 LSI (1995 model) for 5 years. It was one of these joint ventures with Rover. And unfortunately for me, it has been the most unreliable car I have ever owned. Here are just a few points.

1. Faulty petrol tank .. fill it half way or higher it starts leaking
2. The fan won't turn on until its at level 3 ... by that time, when you
get out the car, it looks like you've been in a hurricane
3. Central locking opens all doors bar the drivers one (this car really
hates me)
4. The brakes squeek ... I've been trying to kill that mouse for months now
5. Rattling doors when driving ... thought it was my sons rattle at first ,but no ..

So as you can see, it didnt give me good impression with Honda. I know they are good, but my wife judges Honda solely by that car. It was built in Swansea, so I can only assume it to be a "ROVER" than a Honda. Now I own an A2. Everything is fine apart from the front headlight that mists up whenever it rains.
