How to find...

Hi folks,

Need a little advice from anyone that can help.. Looking to find my engine code.. It's a 1.4 TDI. Is there just one code for all the TDI engines or do they vary.

Thanks Luke

Have a look in your service book. It’s usually listed there. It is also listed on your car’s V12.
There are several diesel engine varriants.

If it's a 1.2, it's an ANY.
If it's an early 1.4 75PS, it's an AMF. Later ones are BHC. Mid 2003 was the cutover, it's a fluid one so you will have to check the book / data sticker.
If it's a 90, then it's an ATL.
If it's an early 1.4 Petrol, it's an AUA. If it was built after 2003, it's likely to be a BBY. If it has multiple coil packs, it *is* a BBY.
If it's an FSI, it's a BAD.

This may help.
Engine number

t The engine number (“Engine code” and “Serial number”) can be found at the joint between engine and gearbox -arrow-.
t Additionally there is a sticker on the toothed belt cover showing the “engine code” and “serial number”.
t The engine code is also to be found on the vehicle data sticker.

At least one of the listed locations should be visible.
