How To Index Gone Missing

Morning Andrew,

I always use Google to speed up the search.

Steve Birchall’s How To Index is still there.

It’s still listed in the Knowledge Area within the Forum Button:

As linked by Tom @2work, the index is still in the same place it was before. What had disappeared was the visible link from the homepage via the Announcements article that I created to draw attention to it. I bumped that thread so it'll be visible again in the News section for a while. Thanks @Andrew for drawing my attention to it.
 
Thank you Tom and Ian. It was late and I should have been more precise. Yes, the Index sub-forum is still there but no longer contains the link to Steve's index as pointed out by Ian. So in summary we now have an Index that does contain an index link in effect no index in Index! I was simply interested in finding a How To item and always used the Index as the start point of drilling down unaware of Ian's praiseworthy News item but it does seem to have upset the apple cart.

On a wider point the structure of the How To is odd, the only place on A2OC that has sub-forums. These are not being used correctly, for example there are two posts in the sub-forum Index that have nothing to do with the index, in my opinion the Index sub-forum should contain only Steve's post and that's it and be closed for further sub-forum posts.

There is also the problem of being able to post directly in How To at a higher level than the sub-forums which is really making the sub-forum structure redundant, this should not be possible. Surely any member wishing to post a new 'how to' should be be forced to select the relevant sub-forum for posting, that way the structure works.

I think last time the 'Where is there a how-to index' question came up, it was felt that having Steve's one in the Index sub-forum was making harder to find for the uninitiated. It seemed better to have it sticky in the How-to forum, so it was moved there. Apologies if you had been used to finding it in How-to/Index. Since the News post linking to it refers to the thread by number, we can always move it back again if it's a problem for everyone.

I don't particularly like the whole sub-forum thing either. But I don't have the ability to freeze the parent forum, and don't know if doing so would actually freeze the sub-forums too.
 
Now I know where it is I am happy and no need to revert back just for me. It does however leave the oddity of an Index sub-forum with no index link, basicly not much use and may as well be deleted.

The sub-forum structure needs addressing as said but does have merit if used effectively.

Lastly, sad that the index is not being updated to include newer How To's or indeed any others that come to light.

It needs looking at Andy, but as with all things, time to make changes are not always forthcoming. The team are all volunteers and we all work, but your points are duly noted and on the to do register. Cheers.
