I am speachless

If you were loosing that much oil through combustion, then there would be very obvious smoke at the exhaust. If no exhaust smoke, I don't think it's being burnt in the combustion chambers.
Mac.
No exhaust smoke .But it does have a black film inside(after nearly 19 years).

LHD or RHD, for the same model, the only difference that makes is the location of some components!

I hope that terminal damage has not been done to the engine by overfilling. I take it you now have a functioning dip stick. With that much oil surprised it did not hydraulic lock the pistons. Worth having a compression test done to see if the rings have been damaged. The breather system would also have been full of oil so that will need to be cleaned out. What state is the air filter and its housing in?
I think the car was not driven much with overfilled oil. The owner said it was smoking heavily from the exhaust. He didn't dare to drive it. I took it on a trailer home. I haven't done much with the engine. It runs fine and does not smoke or consume oil. The clutch was a bit shaky first. Probably some motor oil on the clutch. It has become better after a while. Maybe I should check the breather as you say.
I am just mensioning this as a reminder of what can happen because of a broken dipstick. I know there are a lot of A2s with broken dipsticks out there. If your car consumes a lot of oil, check that you have the right amount of oil an a good dipstick.

Good advice ?
As one reference.... none of my five A2's nor the donor have the original dipstick (though all of them are longrunners... 300-500'km)
I can recommend @depronman repair solution

If I were you, I would carefully examine the dipstick as others have said; but if you're still not sure whether the oil level is the issue (could it also be the wrong dipstick, no matter how remotely possible?!), then I would drain the oil and refill with the specified amount.

Of course I drained the oil and filled it with the right amount. I also fixed the dipstick and also added a new more reliable VW Polo dipstick at the back of the engine.

Hi guys,
friday I will go for a compression test.
Yesterday morning being a bit colder ,during electrician's test I noticed a very light blue smoke from the exhaust .
I will come back with news after compression test.
Again many thanks for advices .
Great team :)
