Icetrack 7: 30+31 Jan 2016, Tahko nr. Kuopio, Finland

Bret, do we have power outlets at the houses for the engine warmers? My recent adventure:

Last week we had quite cold days here in Oulu. After dropping out the kids at the daycare I did some shopping and then the car just did not start. My anti-theft system has blocked the starter motor even if it was disabled (= in service mode). I had to leave the car there in the shopping mall's parking place for the whole day. It was -30 Celsius at that time. I went back to the car in the evening when the weather warmed up a bit to -26C and I gave it a try. The car just started easily...

yes, there should be. We're just discussing it over on the German forum. Priority has to be for engine block warmers over inside heaters. Let's see just how many we have, because I think it's most of the cars (and we will have >20 cars at the houses).

Trackmeister greenlighted the track today, even if it's above zero. The ice is seriously solid so it should be good. If it rains Tuesday, then it will be *extremely* slippery.

Some fantastic sideways shots of the yellow storm, love it. Thank goodness for the Cayenne or it could have been a different day.

Thank you so much Pocoloco for publishing the videos, stunning photography, stunning location and stunning cars!!!!

Cheers

This is like "car porn" what a fantastic event this was and the photography is outstanding.

The journey itself looks as amazing as actually taking part when you get there.

The part 2 does give a bit of an uneven story, because there's 16 hours of tracktime condensed there. Still, the Cayenne did make life much easier than it would have been otherwise. For next time I need something similar....if there is a next time. Need to think about that some more, still.

the journey in this case really isn't just about the destination. I'm pretty sure my brother, who was here for the first time, was in sensory overload by the time he got back here on Monday evening. Too many new things - the snow, the sun that peeks over the horizon, the sideways pretty much everywhere at will, the sauna, the ritualistic car burial practices of some members... :) - the list goes on. Not to mention seeing ASR lights at 60 mph on the way home.....

Glad you liked the event. *If* there's another one, who's joining? Consider it to be around €600 from the quay at Travemünde / Lübeck and back to there. Out on Wednesday, back late Tuesday night.

"If" there's another one, I would like to be there for sure. This year it was disastrous to me: my father in law has suddenly died on that Saturday, that's why I had to leave and skip almost all the event. But the time I spent there was a great FUN. The country, the place, the ice and all the people...

Seriously disappointed we could not attend due to travel document issues which are now resolved and hope that you consider yet another such adventure for next year Bret.
What an amazing experience and fantastic video - thank you for sharing. I have no doubt Patrick & Andre (A2OC friends that feature in the videos) will gloat.

Good on you Bret, well done!
