Idle speed

hi all,

anyone know what speed on the rev counter my 1.4 petrol aua engine should sit at when idle?
also can vag com alter this?

thanks

The speed depends on
1) engine temperature
2) air-con running or not

in the winter, when the engine is warmed, temp stays at 90C, it should be around 800rpm. Initial startup can be as high as 1200rpm in the summer with air-con at full speed. It can also go over 1000rpm in the winter at start up while the engine is warming up.

Ref the question on adjusting the idle speed, I'm fairly sure this is part of the ECU mapping and can't be adjusted with VagCom

As humps has said.

Mind you, I had a problem after the cold spell, and after quite a bit of work, my idle revs are a little lower than they used to be, so could have been due to a software update, as the garage carried out a lot of diagnostic work, engine upgrades, and a few new parts.
