Iffy heater

Hi chaps. Newbie here.
I just bought my first A2, a tdi se 75bhp. Whilst driving it home the other night I noticed that the heater inside the car is pretty pants.
the fan speed works fine and the temperature up/down buttons are functioning but the air coming from the vents is Luke warm at best. As soon as they’re switched on, they’re warm for a few seconds but then go cold again. The car is reaching 90 degrees in a respectable time so I’m not thinking it’s a thermostat issue.
any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated.
thanks.
Ross

Flaps that control the temperature, and direction. Probably the temperature flap in your case, not opening, so you only get cold air.
A scan is the easiest way to confirm it.
Some have got a fix by cycling the system temperature from high to low quite quickly, seems it can free the flap drive motor up. Probably temporary but worth a try.
Google "A2OC V68 flap"
Mac.

Thanks bud. I’ve tried turning the temp up and down to see if it helps but sadly not. Turning the temp down is having an affect though so perhaps the flap is going all the way to hot but works fine for cold 🤷🏻‍♂️
will a generic obd code reader work with these cars or does it have to be vagcom?
thanks again

Generic is worth a try, never know your luck 🤞 VCDS for sure.
