I want to import an A2 TDI (LHD) into the USA.

According to Audi-USA the A2 doesn't exist.
Dealers here won't talk about it, on the rare occasion they know what one is. I've sent emails to Audi USA and Deutschland without response.
One cannot import or register any foreign auto into the USA without a Certificate of Conformance from the manufacturer. Does anyone have a contact at Audi in Europe that could help?

Thanks!

Try to write a letter or fax to the adress below... sometimes they are slow to respond to emails...
The numbers are from inside germany.
If you need more help, email me directly ([email protected]), maybe I can help (talk to my dealer or Audi)...

If I were you I would mak sure a dealer in the US could handle problems with the car before jumping. The electical systems are pretty complex on these and if they do not have the right software to interrogate the car for faults life will be difficult for them!

Why are NEARLY all the A2s in Lichfield silver ? ? ?

I thought a Certificate of Conformance is only needed/aplies for car which are imported/exported between european countries. This way a customer from Germany can import a car from the Netherlands and register it in Germany without any modifications on the car. The first problem is that an european Audi dealer is often not permitted to sell any car outside Europe. When you find a dealer who wants to sell one, the next problem is the modification that have to be made on the car before it is permitted on the road in the US. Perhaps you should first try to get some information in the US which modification have to made on car for example sidelights....

good luck
