Indicator Hiccups

I think my indicators have hiccups! Whilst driving yesterday they worked fine for several flashes, then did a quick on-off then continued OK. Everything else worked fine. Then the rather annoying washer bleep went, but it didn't do its usual 5 minute reminder, which WAS a bonus! Later on in the day after a bit of a queue at a roundabout they just stopped but worked after I cancelled them and started again. Then when I got home, they flashed just once before not working. The hazards work fine.

Any ideas chaps and chapesses? I went to work in the other halfs car today and am planning to call out Audi Assistance tomorrow but any advice would be great.

Maybe I should use telepathic indication like all the other b****rs I've encountered today............[3]

Usually the indicator blinks faster when the lamps are excepting to die out or if one of he lamps has already died out. But it's strange that it goes on and off when it pleases,,,

We had the same problem on our 1.2TDI, the indicator switch relais had to be changed... after a few days of hiccups, it died altogether..

Same problem just started on our A2. Indicators hiccup a few times, then stop altogether, but the hazard lights work fine. Local Audi dealer says it is the red switch on the dashboard - £14 plus fitting. On Monday they will do it.

It's nice to think 2002 cars all have their indicators gong on strike at the same time, just after the guarantee expires. Kind of gives you a warm feeling - very warm... I wonder what is programmed to go wrong for the rest of the year.

Nearly all sorted. It was the switch, hidden deep behind the radio. Phoned Audi Assist who firstly sent out the biggest recovery truck you have ever seen! Obviously no spares on board. So I called Whites Audi who said that I would have to book it in, then I called Guildford Audi who were great. The receptionist assured me that I should have been sent a "Dedicated Audi Technician" in the first place so got one out to me pronto! Great guy, didn't have the correct parts but got the indicators going with a bit from an A4 and is coming out today with the parts. I said that I didn't know where I will be today, and he said "wherever you are we'll come to you". My Hero!!!!!

So dispite the original hiccup with the hiccups, well done Audi Assist.

I've had something like this too. My indicators malfunctioned for sometime and then just stopped. Alarms were OK, but indicators were gone. The problem was in the alarm switch. This is the interval relais that switches the indicators on and off (and on and off). This was easily replaced since it can be pried out. Whole repair took 5 minutes.
