Indicator noise

My indicators work fine and my hazards, the trouble is I keep getting the relay ticking noise when I’m NOT using them, if I put my signals on or hazards it stops and just acts normally as if you are turning with your signal on, soon as you finish your signal or hazards it starts beating rapidly again , anyone got any idea , dud relay or flasher unit maybe ?

With me it was the flasher stalk

A clicking coming from behind the ashtray area will be the flasher relay. I have 2 in stock at present.

You have much more experience with A2s than me. The flash relay is certainly easier and cheaper to change than the stalk. I changed the relay, cleaned all the bulb holders and the bulbs. Cleaned every earth point. And it was the same. Changed the stalk as it was the only thing left and that was it.
The relay is probably the more common fault

Steve , I’m just going to try the WD40 and see if that does anything if not I’ll take a relay off you, I’ll get back to you, thanks.

The indicator noise solved, although it was at the suggestion of someone on here , that, I try WD40 in and around the stalk area which I did and to try jiggling it , which I did, eventually it has stopped it altogether now, however it is only a stop gap until I have a cruise stalk fitted, which as most know will supersede my original troublesome indicator stalk, many thanks to all who posted on it.
