Indicator Problem

Hi all,
My A2s been sat unmoved for about 3 weeks now. I have started driving it in the past couple of days again, but before that, I had a flat battery. So, I charged it overnight and it was fine the next morning, however, upon locking it, I noticed that the indicators no longer flash when locking, but they do when unlocking. I've tried searching, and I can't find anyone else with this problem previously, so any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Adam

Hi Adam
Had the same thing and left it . I then got the window stuck half way down and from the forum read that you need to disconnect the battery to reset the window . The indicator was working again on alarm after the battery was removed and reset .
Let me know if this helps

The indicators will always flash when unlocking the car (assuming the CCCU software coding hasn't been changed from its factory settings). However, the indicators only flash upon locking the car if all four doors, the boot and the bonnet are registered as closed. In other words, you've got a microswitch circuit problem in at least 1 of 6 places.

Cheers,

Tom

Paul,
Thanks for the suggestion, I have tried unplugging it, but I've got nothing so far.

Tom,
Am I right in saying that if not all microswitches are engaged, the alarm won't arm and the red LED won't flash?

@timmus is spot on - as usual ,as long as cccu unaltered then the lack of flashing on locking is one of the "closed" microswitches on the 4 doors, tailgate and service hatch. Remote release the tailgate without unlocking the car, then drop it from about 7 inches from closed, if this was the culprit the indicators will now flash provided it is properly closed as they do tend to bounce a little failing to lock. If that didn't work, unlock the car on the remote and pull the service flap release. Close and lock car on remote then close the service flap, again if this was the culprit the indicators will flash.. A door not closed will show on DIS, fuel release button, interior light on etc depending on the door at fault. If the tailgate isn't shut the light will be on draining the battery, to check fold a rear seat forward or retract the roller blind to see the light. The interior light eventually timer out when on the door switches but not sure if the boot light does time out or not. As far as the alarm not being armed I am not sure but if something is amiss with the microswitches the door led flashing sequence changes, on my car the led stays solid lit for about 6 seconds before it starts to flash if the boot or service hatch is not closed.

scan it. That will tell you which door - or bonnet, petrol flap, tailgate - will not safe. no "SAFE" signal --> no indicators.

all the lights do timeout after a while, it's quite a long one on the tailgate.

I've sorted this now, thanks for all the help. It turned out to be a dodgy service flap microswitch.

That is good news. With the service flap switch you can glue a washer onto the small square pad on the service flap that presses against the switch to give more throw to close the switch this also helps push the flap open when released.

Hello A2 friend, I came here my weird indicator problem hope you can help me.
I use the car almost every day, no battery disconnect or any other change I can recall.
Today I did not hear the clicking noise of the indicator when turning the control lamp stayed dark the indicators themself too. I tried the hazard which worked perfectly. I went on and checked the indicator continuously, sometime worked, sometime not at all, sometime just one or two blinks in weird rhythm.
Do you have any idea where to search the problem?

Sounds like the indicator relay. They have two separate circuits, one for indicators, one for the hazards. There's bound to be one somewhere on European eBay. It lives behind the stereo and HVAC controls in the back of the dashboard, unfortunately it's really not nice to get to especially if you have the double-DIN dash.

Thanks, actually I do have a double DIN dash... ok, no problem, if so then it is a good occasion to get a comfort blinker. If i install them that's all, I mean the car does't need any programing when I install the comfort blinker, does it?

Not to the best of my knowledge, no, just replace the relay with the Komfortblinker.
