I am one of the few motorists on the roads round here that uses those orange lights that all cars come with (but I think the internal stalk is an option on BMWs) I have had a failure, rang my dealer to book in expecting about a 3 week wait when much to my suprise they are sending a 'man in a van' to my works tommorrow morning. Well impressed with that!!![24] Smith Knight Fay Audi Stockport

Nope, people round here don't use them either, think perhaps they are trying to conserve fuel.

It could also be said for the midlands.
I cant believe people are too lazy to move one finger 1 inch!!!!
What reason is there for not using them ?
Or turning off a roundabout still indicating right !
I guess they expect someone else to do it for them ,like everything
nowadays. As long as they donated a few quid to the tsunami they cant do anything wrong over here.[15]
sorry got carried away.

As a bit of an aside - what is this continental culture for leaving the indicator on whilst overtaking? It works quite well on dual carriageways - but on larger carriageways, it's 'reet confusing - is the guy in front just overtaking the lorry, or does he actually want to move into lane 3?

Confused.

Not so impressed now, man in a van arrived, diagnosed it was the relay, had to go back & get one, I could have told him that myself, you would have thought he would have brought one anyway, however I now find my phone holder & climate control panel are loose,(broken fixing) he had to remove the radio & control panel to get to the relay guess what, he saw this & forgot to report it, cost about £350+tax+fitting, they will try and get a warranty payment from Audi suprise suprise, he should have pointed the problem out to me immediatley as I now don't know whther it was he or the phone installation people who broke it.

I agree: that's very confusing indeed. Good for nothing, IMHO.

It's not a continental thing though. Here in the Netherlands we don't do it.
Except for when we have just come back from a holiday in Germany or France, where they do seem to have this odd habit.... it rubs off on yourself for a few days.

Have problems with my indicators they work but seem to have got slow and sometimes they just stop even though I havent cancelled them. can restart them by turning them off and on both sides behave in the same way but harzard lights work ok. Is this a relay fault and has anybody else had the same trouble

My car has now been booked into the garage to have the relay replaced thankfully I have a good warranty cover which will cover all the costs it isnt an Audi one either its the VW approved warranty and all work being done by the VW garage. Audi garage were useless to say the least they need a lesson on customer service. Wont be going back there again all work will now be done by my local VW garage and they will even go and get the Audi parts
