Interesting Post on the A2’s handling

I watched most and saw a top speed of just 180 kph = 112mph. I've done more than that when trying to keep up with another A2 on the German autobann (a straight section). I had a full load of luggage including the back seat so couldn't keep up and also I was worried about the strain on the tyres, so gave up. Mine you I would hesitate to be driving on the red for more than a second or so. Still, good to see a positive A2 video.

On paper the 1.4 has a top speed of 108 mph, so presumably one would have to be going down a hill to get much faster than that

Is it possible the rev limiter has been raised slightly - I think I remember reading that the AUB has a higher notional rev limit in the software than the AUA so the physical engine is clearly capable of it if it is generating enough power or getting some help. The top speed sections are properly downhill at Nurburgring so there will be a gravity component.

That looks very good. Did ABT do any body kit for the A2?
Mac.
I don't think they did, but they made lowering springs as well

I did a bunch at tacho180 back in the day, specifically from Frankfurt to Darmstadt on the A5. I also saw 170+ last time I was in Germany. Takes some time. 3l faster than the TDis. 140 is about 4k rpm if I remember correctly... indicated 190 at 5.5k rpm sounds about right. In the video, top speed is in 4th, I believe...

Done over 170 with 1.2TDI in Germany by gps measurement (needle was way past 180 there), don't recall it being specifically downhill or so. Usually don't see the point going that fast, but if am kinda hurry, will keep 33kW limiter on and floor it. Then it will cruise at 150km/h (3000rpm), doing ca 5 liters per 100km.

Mine 75 TDI runs 170 km/h max as it revs at 4200 RPM and don't have power in such high revs...
A remapped Tdi 75 on the ring would be substantially quicker though unlikely to break any records it could hold it's own and perhaps even surprise a few warm hatches. Could it match a SSS perhaps from the same era? That would be impressive.
