Chat Interesting valuation check

HI,

Our sister is about to sell her Ford Fiesta (08) and so I offered to have a look at the price guides to see how much she should sell it for.

It is a decent spec 1.4 zetech 5 door with low miles.
The value came back at around £3,000 to sell it privately!!!

So I decided to use the same site to check the value that they recommend for an A2
I used my wife's 2004 A2 as a base and did not enter any of the extras she has on it.
The value came back at £4,000 !!!

So that is £1,000 more for a car that is 4 years older, with twice the mileage and a lower spec (at least the lower spec I entered)

Nice!!!

I kinda expected it but it is good to see just how well the A2 is holding its value and I can't see that dropping much over time.

Don't seem to have the app for android :( would be interested in the valuation of mine.
The problem is that the price guide treats it as a 1.4 Sport with no leather etc. So that would not be an accurate valuation (and you might not like the result either, it is lower than I expected)

I think the A2 is one of those cars that can not be valued properly by sites like these.

I wonder if they can also value a classic car correctly?

Exactly, there are so many contributing factors, such as extras and service history and the like.

But in my case I just wanted a starting point value for a standard version of my wife's car (it looks like the fact that it is a 90 has increased the value a little.)

So in answer to your question these sites give a rough idea of the value of a standard car without really considering its rarity or classic status.

In that case I will tell you,
with that mileage (100K?) it would be between £1,550 and £1,880 and that is not including the leather, Votex etc.

Mileage is 130k. No intention on selling it, was just curious. Will be with me for a long while yet, unless I find another one ;)

Ive found the "we buy any car" valuations scary. They email you a first price then in time around two further offers with only slight improvements. This is why we keep my wifes "rattletrap" Mk4 Golf.

They are basically saying that they will buy any car, "at a price so low that they KNOW that they will make money"
