Interior roof lights

Hi!

I have a problem with my interior roof lights both front and back. If I but the switch in "the center position" (what most people do) the lights stays on all the time, and wont switch off as they should after some seconds.

They also stay on even though I shut all doors and lock the car.

Common fault?

Cheers,

Sounds like you got a dodgy door microswitch - it's not registering that the door is shut and so doesn't turn off the lamps.

Cheers,

Mike

I think on mine, if I leave the doors open for long enough the lights go off anyway. Therefore, even if the door switch did not recognise that the door was closed, would the light not go off?

Mike, Are they connected the problematic convienience unit? If they are, Is anything else not working right? Central locking? Fuel flap?

Nick

Yes, the interior lights are connected to the cccu - diagram below:

W is the interior light, W13 and 19 are the reading lights. E1 is the driving light switch. W43 is the rear light and W18 is the luggage compartment light.

Cheers,

Mike

That's why I wondered if it was the CCCU as shown by Mike, as in pgodo's original post they say they stay on and don't go off.

I have a similar, but intermittent fault with the fuel flap not opening. Everything else controlled by the cccu works perfectly though!

Hmmmm!

Well, thanks for all the replies. When the switch is in the middle position, they stay on no matter what. The luggage compartment light works just fine. Bad contact some where?
