Intermittent electrical fault.

Hi, I was wondering if anybody has experienced the same problem as me or if anyone can help with advice. My central locking works fine but some times when i get in the car and start the engine the interior light stays on. When this happens the electric windows and petrol cap button will not work. After a minute the doors lock themselves even if i am driving as if the car has not registered that i am in it. On the odd occasion the windows have begun to work again whilst driving but most of the time they don't.
I have just replaced the battery as i thought it might not have enough power but the problem is the same and it seems more often now.
Thanks

Hello and welcome.

This sounds like a case of the infamous central convenience unit playing up. There is someone in Germany that can repair them I believe, but a new one, from Audi, is around £240 plus coding.

Cheers,

Mike

Hi and welcome!

Sounds like a similar problem to mine, albeit mine was a little worse. I agree with Mike, sounds like the CCU under the passenger floor is playing up. I'm in contact with Lau in Germany to get mine mended, (80 Euros is a lot better than £230+). He also has a 'spare' unit here in the UK that is available so your car is fully operational whilst he repairs yours. I'm waiting to hear who has it so I can get my car TAXed and Tested by the end of the week...

Can I just ask, does the lights on warning buzzer still work?

Thanks Skipton 01 and twinbeech.

Twinbeech, how do you contact Lau and maybe i could use the unit in the uk after you had yours done.
Any more details would be appreciated.
Thanks again

Sounded similar to my problem...the car doesn't realise the door is open!

If you type in Lau in the search bar you'll find posts he's made, then click on his name and you can PM him.

Sure about the spare unit, I sent my faulty one off today so hoping it gets to me soon!
