iPod Installation

Hi peeps,

I've been asked for photos of my iPod installation by a forum member who is considering having me do the install at the same time as his cruise fitment, so here they are.

I swear that the stowage tray was clean when I took the photo - must be that psychic dust that Yvette Fielding always sees!

Cheers,

Mike

Nice job!

Separately and excuse my ignorance, but what is the ECO button next to your ASR button? Is it a TDI 90 thing or something you have added yourself?
(An A2 on-line encyclopedia would be handy!)

The ECO button is a feature only found in the 1.2TDi. I have added it so as to be able to use it as a GALA-cut button for when my front seat passenger wants to watch TV in motion.

I could have added a separate rocker switch (which would have been far easier), but I wanted to keep the interior as stock as possible, bearing in mind that I've already got an iPod in there.

Cheers,

Mike

Good album, Division Bell. :)

Excuse my ignorance, but who's Yvette Fielding? Psychic dust? I know I'm not a kid anymore but I hope this is not due to my age!

Is that just in-line with the GALA speed wire? Or have you done something else on the RNS-E unit? The navplus.us forum makes lots of references to tv-in-motion - but hadn't looked into how to achieve it. Also - have you got a TV tuner unit now?

[Hangs head in shame] I once went to a Most Haunted Live....... Bit pants really but thats what I think of the show anyway. Why is it always the wife/GF who watches it??

Questions questions!

Ben, the ECO button is just in-line with the GALA as yousaid, although as it's a momentary action switch, you need to build a flip-flop to make it latch.

I didn't want red leather as a) they couldn't guarantee a match and b) I think it would have been too OTT - that's why I chose not to go for the leather controls pack in red, even though it was a no-cost option.

I don't actually watch Most Haunted, I used to work on it when Yvette was working for Granada (they refused to pick up on the pilot the fools!) and I know both Yvette and Derek from years back anyway.

Thing to remember when you watch the show is that it's just that - A SHOW!! It's not real and should not be taken seriously.

And finally, yes, The Division Bell is a cracking album - I'm on a bit of a PF binge at the moment, having just bought the Pulse dvd.

Cheers,

Mike

You say it looks a bit 'hoares drawers' with the full red interior but I'd have to disagree.

When our black A2 was delivered, it was meant to have the full controls pack (colour coded steering wheel, handbrake grip, gear knob, carpet edging) but it wasn't supplied. We have since changed the wheel, gear knob and handbrake to matching red leather and have to say it's a vast improvement.

It possibly looks a bit more garish in the pics but if you see one in the flesh it seems to suit the car rather well.

Or we can agree to differ - and make the world a more interesting place.

Well, having just performed a cruise fit on an A2 with red leather and the red leather controls pack, I must say it's not as 'in your face' as I was expecting.

It's still not my cup of tea, but then it's good to be different and have differing opinions, as long as we all respect those of others.

Now then, where can I source a blue leather steering wheel from.......!

Cheers,

Mike

Nah.. I don't get upset with other peoples opinions. Just like to keep the balance for and against..
Wouldn't it be boring if we all has the same tastes.

Jealous!!!

I just get cheesed off seeing all these highly specced A2's when ours is so bog standard! Whenever we looked, that was all there was to be had on the used market....
