Is this Concert CD compatible for an A2?

Hi, would anyone know and be able to confirm if a Concert CD head unit, part number 4B00351860 which I believe is from an A6 is compatible to be used in an A2 as I know the A2 and A6 of the similar age share many parts and something in the back of my mind somewhere is telling me that this could be one of them, or at least I'm hoping so?

Thanking you in advance ๐Ÿ‘

If I remember correctly, the basic chassis is the same across all the models of the Concerts it is only the screwed on fascia with the display and buttons that is "custom" to the individual models. So the A6 should work as long as you have an A2 fascia on it.

Here are some pics

Ah ok thank you.

No it still has the original A6 fascia so I presume that means it's a no go? ๐Ÿ‘

Not if you have a donor A2 fascia / radio to take that part from and fit to the A6 unit. If I remember correctly the fascia panel on the A2 is the smallest of them.

It's a Chorus 11 with cassette and i saw the above Concert CD very keenly priced and thought it could make a nice cheap upgrade but unfortunately I don't have an A2 fascia to transplant

If it is cheap enough may still be worth buying and then get a scrap A2 unit that the front fascia is good and swap over. alternatively ask @A2Steve @Clackers @Ami if they already have a suitable A2 unit. Remember you will still need the code for the unit but cheap enough on ebay.

Thank you.

It actually isn't for our own car but for a rescue car that I've been fixing up that had a broken aftermarket 6cd changer in the boot that I've now removed.

I will probably just leave the Chorus 11 in then as it's working fine and original to the car that i do prefer any way๐Ÿ‘

The buttons do come out but the spring plates that push the buttons forward normally get damaged when the buttons are removed. However turn the radio around and look from the back of the plastic fascia and the mounting screws are apparent and easy to remove to swap the fascia.

Here is a picture showing just the edge of different Concert 2 radios. The (sum) of the mounting screws for the fascia are visible. I believe the A4 or A6 units are fine but there is an issue with A3 units.

The difference in size and shape very clear in this picture...

As far as I know the concert II from a A6 will fit without issues. I have one in one of my A2โ€™s. ๐Ÿ‘. The issue, apart from the fascia, with an concert from an A3 (partnumber 8P0xxxxxxx) is the canbus not compatible. Timmus can probably shed some more light on this. I havenโ€™t been able to make it work in a A2. So youโ€™re good to go
