Is this normal?

I fill my wifes 1.6fsi untill the pump clicks off but the gauge on the dash only shows 3/4 full. I put 41 litres in last time and it read 3/4 full ( it was hard over in the red before filling) what is the capacity of the tank - any one know? I have read the threads on the hidden button and wondered if it should read full on the gauge without using the button?

Cheers

Your tank capacity is 42litres (officially).

Sounds to me like your fuel sensor needs re-calibrating, which can be done via VAG-COM (or a dealer if you must!). If this doesn't do the trick, then it's new sensor time.

Mike

thanks Mike
Have you got any info on the re cal on vagcom, I have full version 3.11 but not genuine Interface. It worked for throttle body alignment, so maybe I could do this.

Cheers, Brendan

Try accessing controller 17 - instruments and adjusting channel 030. Do this when your tank is brim-full and the value stored should be 255.

Hope this helps,

Mike

Well plugged it in to vag com with tank 1/4 full and it read 128, filled it to brim and it still read 128, could not alter value - i guess because not a genuine interface, have the same problem with the service interval. looks like i'll have to buy a gen i/f.

Any one know if the gendan leads are any good and what the cheapest one available is that will allow me to do the above. I have full version of vagcom 3.11.

Cheers
