It pays to shop around

So wheels are on car, took it for a spin 50/60/70 and WOW, what a difference A1 alloys make over 17s on A2. Certainly, not as good as the Pepperpots however, what I paid makes it a bargain. A1 alloys even with winter tyres marginally lighter than the 17s

Would certainly ride an awful lot better too if fitted with good quality summer tyres rather than budget winter tyres, especially in this heat.

More than likely one or more of your 17" Sport wheels are out of round too which obviously wouldn't of helped the ride 👍

The wheels are indeed for winter (what makes you think they are budget tyres) and I needed to give them a run out to make sure the balancing was good and indeed the rims are round. They passed a plumb. More than happy👍

These rims as Previously stated are purely for the winter as the fsi is a winter car😳

As promised, please see attached images of refurbished wheels (very quick turnaround) collected today:

Cost was as originally quoted = £220 (I live 2 miles from Carrick Wheels).
No extra cost…. wheels have been shot blasted, checked for true alignment, powder coated and lacquer, tyres refitted and balanced…. what’s not to like

Colour is an Audi colour, Anthracite Grey/lacquer.

Total cost of exercise = £220 + original cost of wheels and winter tyres £125 = £345. Bargain👍

Did ask how long work will last….. answer was just wash normally, do not use chemical products as per wheel cleaners (they cause damage as well as cleaning wheel 😳), should last five years +….. will not have car that long😂😂😂

Wheels are WINTER wheels, PEPPERPOTS will now be refurbished (not that they need it) for the summer.
Looks like a comprehensive service at a very fair price, Paul. Essentially new wheels for £55 a corner. I think that's great. I'll have them do the A2 and TT when I get a spare moment.

I shall report back in 6 months, so that will give you a better understanding of quality👍

What TT do you have? I am kinda moving towards a TT roadster/Golf GTI/Polo GTI or i3. Really not sure what I want to do.

Unless you need Quattro, consider a FWD, lighter, simpler, better mpg, and Euro 4. If you want a roadster, FWD is, probably the only one you need. All Mk1s are getting on a bit, roadsters have all the Coupe potential problems, plus roof mech, wind shield, etc. I've got an FWD Coupe, and have considered a roadster, but all the additional risk, for a few weeks a year, however fantastic they will be, just don't justify work for me.
Mac.

This offer is still open, have used them for my winter wheels, not the best quality but for £25 a wheel

Mine is a Coupé, which I've owned for 15 years. I know it inside out and it has NEVER given me any trouble because I've looked after it. Spec is below. Being an A2 owner I'm sure you know what you are letting yourself in for. Choose wisely and even a 20 year old TT Roadster will delight.
Mac is spot on about engine choice IMO. I think the 180 FWD version is better suited to the convertible ethos and the added performance and complexity of quattro and/or 225 doesn't really bring anything to the roadster party. The 180 FWD has more than enough speed, spins up a bit quicker and is a lot lighter to boot. It will be a different experience to the Saab, perhaps not as cool (subjective, I know) but still a pleasure to own.
Golf GTi and Polo Gti equally worthy of merit but I suspect you really want another convertible don't you, Paul?
In your list you include the i3, which is a very different kettle of fish and one I am also intrigued by. If I were to tip my toe in the EV pool the i3 is only one I think is actually an interesting proposition.

My FWD Coupe is a 190, the final run, 2006 model year was upgraded from 180. The Roadster went from 150 to 163.
Mac.

Indeed, Mac. I was trying to avoid giving Paul a lecture on TT specs and ancestry. It's more of a quagmire than the A2! The point I was trying to make is that he should not be put off by a none 225/quattro spec car. These are cheaper to get into but are not lesser cars. Some people are snobby about such things and there is a lot of nonesense spoken about the merits, or lack there of, of the various incarnations of TT. A2 people seem to be a lot more levelheaded and less provactive. :)
