Well it was a sad day today I waved goodbye to my beloved Audi A2, as many of you will know I treasured this car and the only reason I sold it was because due to this dam MND, I can no longer drive a manual car - Dam You MND...
So I'll say goodbye to you all, in particular to Mike Hill, who gave me a lot of advice and did some miracle works on the car - I hope you will welcome Mick (yellowskunkcabbage)who is the new ownerinto the club and make sure he looks after it for me!

I would appreciate it if you could follow my journey living with motor neurone disease until finally beats me via my website www.jaded-john.net

all the best you all
John

Thanks for looking after me today John and it was a pleasure to meet you and your family. Be assured that I will look after the car for you. I had a great journey home, the A2 is an accomplished motorway cruiser. It will take me a little time to get used to the gears after driving a petrol 1.4 engined car, but I am looking forward to many miles to come in the A2.
(ps I found some sunglasses in the glovebox and an amount of change in the ashtray, which I will post to you on Monday (let work pay the postage!! ;) )

All the best

Mick

John, it's not goodbye, it's just farewell! Just as your love for the A2 is apparent, so your enthusiasm for A2OC and your incredible approach to life since MND diagnosis has touched all who know you through these pages.

I am very fortunate to have met you more than most and I say it is my privilege to know you, so my thanks go out to you for showing me what positivity is. Don't be a stranger here and if we can get a local-ish social to you, then please do come along if you're able.

Your A2 is I believe in good hands - Mr Y.S.Cabbage has been in touch with me a few times about your car and he seems a nice chap. The car will be pretty local to me, so I'll keep an eye out on it on your behalf.

We don't really own these great little cars - we're just their custodians for a while. You've done your stint John and now it's someone elses turn to take the reins.

Take care and my very best wishes to you and yours.

Cheers,

Mike

I hope you stick around on the forums john as i know you would be greatly missed by all of us! Pleased to hear your car has gone to a good home

Chris

John, just been browsing your website, some amazing stories, got me a bit choked up. I'm off for a cup of tea.

Ps how is your solar pv performing vs what you expected from before installation?

I have not had the plesure of meating you John. On a vist upto Mike Skipton's for some work he talked about you with great respect, what a great guy you are and the way you are dealing with MND. He said your A2 was one of the best 5 in the country. That is a great testament to you. It's nice to know it has gone to a good home and will be looked after as well as you have done.

I have been reading your web site it was very humbling how you are dealing with MND. Everybody could learn a lot from you. All the best

David

Like most members of the forum I never had the pleasure of meeting you John but have read your posts and thread with much interest and enjoyment and you have always portrayed yourself as one of lifes true gentlemen. Your website is quite thought provoking and required a few deep breaths to get through it. As they say don't be a stranger on the forum and keep us posted with your next car (what is it?) etc.

Hi everyone,
and thank you so much for your kind words, if there is ever a social event in my area. Then I would love to come along, I don't know how long I will be able to drive for mind you, as my right hand is failing now.

Adrian - if my solar PV setup is performing as well as expected, I estimated it would give me a income of around £1500 per annum, it was installed on 9 May this year and it at £800 already - mind you I have not seen a penny from Npower yet - that's my electricity supplier!.

If you want to keep track on it. I have set my system up so that it automatically uploads data to the Internet so you can track via my website

http://www.jaded-john.net/solar-pv-info.html at the bottom of the page you will see a graph. If you click on that graph. It will take you to my PV output page.

My current car is -another Audi an A3 this time, I paid through the nose for it, but it's got everything...... the car to replace my A2 had to be at least the same spec :)

One last thing you might of noticed on my site. I'm trying to raise money for the motor neurone disease Association, to date, I have raised around £10,800 by organising a fun run, a Las Vegas themed evening, online auctions, so if the a2oc are ever looking for a charity to sponsor please bear me in mind!

Kindest regards to you all

John

Hi Adrian, yes it's got DSG , and is a 170 TDI with open sky, if you PM me your e-mail address I will send you some details on my solar setup

John

Hi John,

I read your post about MND with great interest and sadness a few weeks ago and spent ages replying to you after reading your blog on your website, only to lose everything I'd replied as I pressed the wrong key on my iPad! Dope! Technology eh!

I just wanted to say I for one have taken a lot of time looking through your site and the links and you're doing a terrific job in your raising awareness! Keep up the good work, in the past a couple of my parents friends have been lost to MND and it was truly devastating, one of them was a radio dj in Norfolk and it was very sad to see a well known local figure like him suffer the effects as they slowly stopped his body including voice which for a dj was paramount. The sooner that a cure can be found for this the better, it needs as much attention as possible and is im my oppinion one of the most devastating illnesses out there.

It's the a2oc social today in Coventry and knowing that you've been an active member in the club Im sure you will be mentioned and discussed today, by me certainly. You do like your gadgets eh! :) tramper, camper, a3 dsg etc :) mans gotta have them even if you do lose all the info you write on your iPad lol, hope you have a great Sunday!

John

Good Lord. Just read John's site. Heart breaking and uplifting in equal measure. If reading it doesn't choke you up, then I don't know what does.
Cheers, Hedge
