Just another girl..A2

Hallo Saulius

Did you get a new battery yet? VARTA are very good option and not that expensive from online outlets - in UK tayna batteries offer good prices.

Silver Dynamic 577 400 078 Article Number: 5774000783162 or Type 110 Varta Silver Dynamic 12V 85Ah (F18) 585 200 080 good options.

Given the winters over there maybe consider a DEFA preheater kit to warm the engine pre startup.

Thanks! Had a look, need warm weather since there is some stuff to do and I don't have a garage or something like that. Or just give a call to an electrician :)

Oh yes I did! I chose VARTA E38, it's 74Ah and 750 CCA and a little bit smaller in dimensions.
DEFA is a good way if you're living in house with your own yard and I'd love to have one of those (when I'll have a house I'll think about it :) ), but since I'm living in a rent flat in a city centre it is difficult to have electric cable here :) I've thought about webasto, but they also do cost a fortune..even used.

How do you turn on the seat belt reminder in vcds?
I found a post here of Spike if I remember correctly, and in instruments section you should add+2 value for first two numbers stored: e.g. mine was 08030 so I added +2 and got 10030 and voila! Now I have a seatbelt reminder light when I turn on ignition, since there is no beep coming, but it is nice anyway. :)

There is a webasto on eBay at the moment for £30. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUDI-A2-1...395171?hash=item41a32b4123:g:6vYAAOSwoydWmUj- The advert for another one above that is for £500 definitely a case of someone not knowing how much they are worth. The Kufatec remote activation kit for a Webasto is really usefull but over £200.

As for the seat belt reminder, I believe that is just a symbol that flashes up on the cluster, it does not have any way of detecting if the belkts are in use or not.

But it is always good to hear of another VCDS code that is of use.

I contacted the seller, he seems to be lithuanian, but still no response :D another thing that is no shipping, just collection only, but worth a try.

As for a seatbelt reminder you're right, it's a symbol that flashes upon ignition start.

uhh, and almost forgot that today I got replaced the upper strut mount on the driver side - no more annoying sounds when steering :) hooray!

hi guys,
I was reading about door cracking another day and decided to check mine if those are okay. I guess it's the same thing? Is it covered by Audi somehow? The photos aren't top quality (smartphone), but maybe some of you could see, especially those who had it ?
First two photos are of drivers door, third - passenger. You can feel with a finger that there is a crack.

I have the same on my car, AUDi are not offering this repair anymore, I know because went to local audi garage and they took a look and took photos a few weeks later, NO REPAIR available.

nothing much happen, waiting for new central vents and cup holders. Need to adjust headlights and go to get new MOT. :)

And today coded a self locking doors. Will see if this feature is good or just annoying thing :)

The auto locking (anti hijack) feature is useful but you need to tell your passengers to pull the interior handle twice if you pull up to let them out.

yeah :D I know that :) since 90% of time I'm driving alone this shouldn't be a problem for anyone :)

Summer wheels on :)

Things to do:
  • Sort thing with rear shocks, I've replaced them last summer, but now I suspect one is faulty, going tomorrow for a check;
  • Get a replacement for a cabin filter, also will do an airco cleaning before the summer;
  • Get an interior cleaning, since these cloth seats are very into stains, etc (but have to wait some more sunny days);
  • Change to a new wiper before summer;
  • Change a ball joint in passenger front, because it was mentioned during MOT ;
  • Get a new insurance, because one is ending on 26th of April.. Expenses again :(

And some good news: like 10 days ago A2 got a new MOT for next two year :) I hope it will serve good :) it was tough with work last two weeks so forum was left aside a bit :)

Hello again, everything is moving forward, as for previous post I just need an interior cleaning :) more or less everything is okay :)

Tomorrow I'm planning to put on a bicycle carrier on my A2 and thought I'd ask for a advice with this. I've used this carrier on my previous passat and today I mounted it on A2. See picture. Is this okay for this car? Anybody is using something similar ? Because I don't have a paper manual and cannot verify that this thing fits A2. There is no manual online as well..But I clearly remember that in manual there was picture with each of them: cabrio, hatchback, saloon and wagon. So I assume this should fit and A2 ?

And another thing: are there some kind of loops or holes to fit it according to this picture? It's from another manual..but mine has these fittings also. Thanks!

The idea is not to secure a hook directly on the glass. Hence, I guess, the devices on your 2nd picture.
When using my A2 for transporting bikes, I've always used my roof bars with a Thule 591 rack.
But in the past, almost 20 years ago, I've carried my MTB for thousands of miles with a basic bikerack like yours on my Citroen AX GT, hooked directly onto the glass rear screen, with no issue at all.

Thanks for post!
Everything went smooth :) 2x130km. The main vertical load is applied to the bumper, not the glass, so this is okay. It looks at first so. And I was carrying one bike, I won't risk putting three on a2, but two will work I think so. Since this carrier can lift up to 45kg, but that means 3x15kg bikes which should be quite hi-end :) there was a problem with a strap on the exhaust side, because it almost got burned through. Need the new strap and think of new attaching point for it.

hello,

the car runs smoothly..I guess. I have one bump sound which nobody could find. The car went through MOT and they said it was fine..but the sound is there. I took mechanic for a ride and he noticed the sound but he couldn't find anything to blame. It looks like a loosen bolt somewhere in a front of a car. That makes me feel desperate.
In another 1000kms the service is scheduled. And I have a question about temperature gauge: since I'm driving relevantly slow (under 110km/h) temperature reading is 90 degrees which is okay. But when I'm driving above 130km/h temperature reading drops to 60 degrees. What could be the cause? it happened me 3-4 times this summer. Is it a dashboard problem? or it is likely to be sticky thermostat? I haven't seen the drop, but I had seen the rise and this is happening gradually, like the engine is warming. So I assume, this could be more likely a thermostat problem? Otherwise there would be clear jumps of a needle (if it is a dashboard) I guess?

Any info appreciated. Thanks.

Could the bump be the common loose bonnet mount (try tapping the rear corner of the bonnet.

As for the temperature issue I would suspect the also common issue of the temperature sender. But it does sound a bit more like a thermostat issue.

Check the temperature with VagCom. I suspect you'll find that the G62 is dead (and you'll need half a liter of g12++ when you replace it). That's teh sensor that tells the dash and climate the temperature, which is why then the climate will do strange things as the temperature needle moves around. Replacement shouldn't be expensive and it's a half-hour - one hour job, no more.

One corner moves a bit - like 1mm or less, could that be? I know the plastic part is broken on that side..Another corner is rock solid.

Hi and welcome aboard.. Lovely a2 you have

Thanks. It is not as pretty as yours, but serves well :)

I've scanned for errors but there aren't any at all on the engine block. Or should I search somewhere else? Or just try to see the temperature with vagcom when it is showing "90 degrees" but is actually lying? I've read somewhere about this thing. FYI the climate works well.
