Kicking up a storm in plastidip

Hi,

Just discovered this thread as a "new post" and WOW, what a great look.

As a fan of the "storm" colour scheme I would like it, but it definitely lifts a silver A2 and looks very good.

Did you do the "Engine flap" too? (sorry if it is mentioned already).

I suppose that this would also work on anyone's rear spoiler when it starts to show its age a little.

Well done

Steve B

Engine flap I'd glossed several months earlier.

All the plastidip is still in place, still considering a complete paint job to replace the plastidip.

Have you had a quote for the respray? I'm considering doing the opposite for the front and rear bumpers. If only they did plastidip in sprint blue, try before you buy as it were.

Did you also have to respray the existing black 'underbelly' of the car? my black sills are looking a bit charcoal these days so wondered whether you sprayed those too or just used a 'back to black' type product?

Cheers
Drew

Looking really good... Would be interested to try out Plastidip.
A colour-scheme I think would look really good is your normal silver but with black bonnet, mirrors and tailgate.
With an open-sky (or black) roof it sort of has that 'more glass' look - a bit like the tailgate on the VW Up.

Another scheme might work (although probably not) would be to do a kind of Storm Negative!

i.e. a black car with silver highlights and arches.

Come to think of it, that might look dreadful, but it might be a first and MIGHT look OK? (Any budding Photoshoppers want a challenge?)

Yes, similar to that, but without the red bumper, which is a "no no" (LOL only kidding)

Steve B

Red bumpers rule though.. ;)
Has anyone ever 'de-colourstormed' an A2?

The red and blue ones arre great and I think would look awesome with colour-matched arches and door-savers
(Blue looks like 80 RS2 Blue)

That would be sacrilege !!!
It would be a shame to reduce the numbers of a limited edition car (alright, they are no collector's item, but you know what I mean?)

My wife has an all red A2 (factory) and that looks great (IMHO)IMG_0023.JPG
I also have a Storm in Misano red, as you can see from my avatar, but I think the colour scheme (and matching interior colour scheme) look good as they are.

But I am a serial modifier and so I can't really say that you shouldn't "mess" with cars!

There was a limited edition of the VW Polo that had a different colour for each body panel wasn't there? Weird-looking thing.

Yes, that was the one that looked like a courtesy car for an accident repairer!!!

A dyslexic sprayer I thought!

And THANKFULLY it was limited !!!!!

I've never seen a red one; I've seen that sort of dark maroon, but that red is awesome. Nice rims too.

I needed new tyres and those wheels were brand new with new tyres for £500 delivered next day (eBay!!!)

Shame they are the ones with two sets of PCD, but they are OK for the money and yes, I really do like that shade of red, with colour coded bumpers etc.
